In the final battle of Beowulf, the aging hero faces a new threat: a fearsome dragon that
terrorizes his kingdom. The dragon is angry/vengeful because a thief stole from its hoard of
treasure. Despite being older and knowing he may not have the same strength as in his youth,
Beowulf decides to confront the dragon to protect his people.
Before the battle, Beowulf gathers his warriors, but most of them flee in fear when they see the
dragon. Only one of his loyal thanes, Wiglaf, stays to help him. Together, they fight the dragon,
but Beowulf is wounded in the process. He manages to kill the dragon, but the victory comes at
a great cost: Beowulf is mortally wounded and knows he will die.
