PERSONALITY PATTERNS

• SCALE 1: INTROVERSIVE
Elevation in Introversive Scale indicates that the client tends to keep to himself, appears to be
quiet and unemotional. He might tend to be apathetic, distant and asocial. His affectionate needs
and feelings might be minimal. he might tend to not get emotionally involved with others, might
not often feel strongly about things and might lack the desire and ability to experience either joy
or sadness in any depth. He might feel indifferent about having others around.

• SCALE 2A: INHIBITED


Elevation in Inhibited Scale indicates that the client tends to be shy or ill at ease with others. He
would like to have close interpersonal relations but at the same time would like to keep distance
and not trust others, shows fear of rejection, and keeps his feelings to himself.

• SCALE 2B: DOLEFUL


Elevation in Doleful Scale indicates that client exhibits dejected and gloomy moods. He has a
sad, pessimistic and brooding outlook on life. He is prone to feeling guilty and remorseful,
feeling inadequate or worthless.

• SCALE 3: SUBMISSIVE
Elevation in Submissive Scale indicates that client tends to be soft-hearted, sentimental, and
kind in relationship with others. He is extremely reluctant to assert himself, however, avoids
taking initiative or assuming a leadership role. He is more inclined to be dependent and exhibit
clinging behaviour and a fear of separation. He is likely to underestimate his abilities and down
play his achievements.

• SCALE 4: DRAMATIZING
Elevation in Dramatizing Scale indicates that the client is talkative, charming, and frequently
exhibitionistic or emotionally expressive. He tends to have sense but brief relationships with
others. He tends to look for interesting experiences and new forms of excitement. He might get
bored with routine life and long-standing relationships.

• SCALE 5: EGOISTIC
Elevation in Egoistic Scale indicates that the client tends to be quite confident in his abilities,
acts self-assured and often seen as self-centered and narcissistic. He may tend to take others for
granted, seem arrogant and exploitive, and may seem unconcerned about the needs of others.

• SCALE 6A: UNRULY


Elevation in Unruly Scale indicates that the client might tend to act out in an antisocial manner,
might resist efforts to make him adhere to socially acceptable standards of behaviour. He may
display a pervasively rebellious attitude that could create conflict with parents and school.

• SCALE 6B: FORCEFUL


Elevation in Forceful Scale indicates that the client might be strong-willed and tough-minded,
tending to dominate and abuse others.He might often question the rights of others and prefer to
control most situations. He might often be blunt and unkind, tending to be impatient with others’
problems and weaknesses.

• SCALE 7: CONFORMING
Elevation in Conforming Scale indicates that the client is very serious minded, efficient,
respectful, and rule abiding. He tends to keep a check on his emotions and be over controlled and
tense. He prefers to have order and organization and avoids unpredictable or unexpected
situations.

• SCALE 8A: OPPOSITIONAL


Elevation in Oppositional Scale suggests that client tends to be discontented, sullen and passive
aggressive. He often behaves unpredictably and is hostile and irritable. He also is unable to
control his mood.

• SCALE 8B: SELF-DEMEANING


Elevation in Self-Demeaning Scale suggests that the client tends to act in a self-defeating
manner and seems to be content with his sufferings. He may show tendency to sabotage his own
efforts to achieve success.

• SCALE 9: BORDERLINE TENDENCY


Elevation in Borderline Tendency Scale suggests the presence of marked affective instability,
erratic interpersonal relationship, impulsive instability along with fears of abandonment and self
destructive actions.

EXPRESSED CONCERNS
• SCALE A: IDENTITY DIFFUSION
Elevation in Identity Diffusion Scale indicates that the client might be confused about who he is
and what he wants. He might be unsure of his identity and might seem unfocused about future
goals and values. He seems directionless and might often be unclear about the kind of person he
would like to be.

• SCALE B: SELF-DEVALUATION
Evaluation in Self-Devaluation Scale suggests that he may have a sense of who he is, but he is
very dissatisfied with that self-image. He speaks openly about feelings of low self-esteem. He
might find little to admire in himself and might fear that he will fall short of what he aspires to
be.

• SCALE C: BODY DISAPPROVAL


Elevation in Body Disapproval Scale indicates that the client is discontented with the flaws or
shortcomings he perceives in his physical maturation. He is likely to express dissatisfaction with
his level of physical attractiveness and social appeal.

• SCALE D: SEXUAL DISCOMFORT


Elevation in Sexual Discomfort Scale suggests that client tends to find sexual thoughts and
feelings confusing or disagreeable. He may be troubled by his impulses and often fear the
expression of his sexuality.

• SCALE E: PEER INSECURITY


Elevation in Peer Insecurity Scale suggests that he feels sadness over being rejected by his peer.
He wants peer approval but unsuccessful in attaining it. He is likely to withdraw and become
even more isolated.

SCALE F: SOCIAL INSENSITIVITY


Elevation in Social Insensitivity Scale indicates that the client is likely to be cool and indifferent
to the welfare of others. He might show lack of empathy and might show little interest in
establishing warm personal ties.

• SCALE G: FAMILY DISCORD


Elevation in Family Discord Scale indicates that the client’s family might have conflicts. There
might be a general feeling of estrangement from his parents.

• SCALE H: CHILDHOOD ABUSE


Elevation in Childhood Abuse Scale indicates that the client may have shame or disgust about
having been subjected to verbal, physical or sexual abuse from parents, siblings, relatives or
family friends.

CLINICAL SYNDROMES
• SCALE AA: EATING DYSFUNCTION
Elevation in Eating Dysfunction Scale indicates that the client exhibits distinct tendencies
towards anorexia nervosa and/or bulimia nervosa.

• SCALE BB: SUBSTANCE-ABUSE PRONENESS


Elevation in Substance Abuse Scale indicates that the client shows a maladaptive pattern of
alcohol and/or drug abuse which has led to significant impairment in his performance or
behaviour. He is likely to behave in a socially unacceptable manner.

• SCALE CC: DELINQUENT PREDISPOSITION


Elevation in Delinquent Predisposition Scale indicates that the client has led or is likely to lead
to situations in which the rights of others are violated. This may include threatening others, using
weapons, persistent deceptiveness or lying, stealing and other antisocial behaviours.

• SCALE DD: IMPULSIVE PROPENSITY


Elevation in Impulsive Propensity Scale indicates that the client is inclined to act out of his
feelings with minimal provocation. He may have poor control over sexual and aggressive
impulses, both of which usually emerge as powerful forces during adolescence. Easily excited
over minor matters, he might discharge his urges in sudden, impetuous and often foolhardy
ways.

• SCALE EE: ANXIOUS FEELINGS


Elevation in Anxious Feelings Scale indicates that the client has a sense of foreboding,
apprehensions about matters that make him nervous. He might be feeling uneasy and disquieted
of unknown events and situations.

• SCALE FF: DEPRESSIVE AFFECT


Elevation in Depressive Affect Scale indicates that the client has a decreased level of activity
distinct from his past activities. There is a notable decrease in effectiveness, feelings of guilt,
fatigue, disparity of the future, social withdrawal, loss of confidence and diminished feelings of
adequacy and attractiveness

• SCALE GG: SUICIDAL TENDENCY


Elevation in Suicidal Tendency Scale suggests that client admits to have suicidal thoughts and
plans. He expresses feelings of worthlessness and purposelessness.
