Assignment Name:
a) Is consideration of SSI important for a short structure? Why?
b) Is consideration of SSI important for a tall structure? Why?
c) Is consideration of SSI important for a long structure? Why?
d) Expected excitation frequency at a site is 1Hz. Frequency of structure is
1.5Hz, horizontal frequency of foundation is 1.2 Hz and rotational frequency
of foundation is 2 Hz. What will be dynamic magnification factor Rd if we
consider SSI and if we do not consider SSI? Damping of the structure is 5%.
Damping becomes 20% if SSI is considered.
