What is arts ?
It is the product or process of deliberately
arranging item in a way that influences and
affects one or more of the senses, emotions and
intellect.
The elements of art are the building blocks used
by artist to create a work of art

Line is the path created when an object moves
from one point to another. in the visual arts line
are made when you draw or paint marks on a
paper or canvas

SHAPE
Shape pertains to the use of areas in two
dimensional space that can be defined by
edges, setting one flat space apart from
another. Including the background,
foreground and middle ground
GEOMETRIC SHAPES
are made out of points and lines
connecting the points in a closed chain.
Such shapes includes circles, rectangle,
squares, triangle.

ORGANIC SHAPES
do not have Sharp edges, lines and
curved like geometric shapes. They are
often used for object in nature like
clouds, flowers, animals, ocean, and the
sky. They are known as free form shapes

TEXTURE
The Texture is the quality of a surface
or the way any work of art is
represented.

lines and shading can be used to


create different textures as well.
Ex. If one portraying certain fabrics,
one needs to give the feeling of the
right texture so that it closely
resembles what the artist is trying to
convey.

Mark
MAKING
Mark making describes the different lines, dots,
marks, patterns, and textures we create in an
artwork. It can be loose and gestural or controlled
and neat.
The impressionists used
mark making – in the form
of separate brush marks or
dabs of paint – to add life,
movement and light to
their paintings of the
things they saw around
them.
