Mckee Dress Code Procedures


All MPS SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR UNIFORMS. The
uniform guidelines of the school coincide with MPS dress code, but in a more
detailed and school specific form. State educational authorities and recent court
decisions have determined that style of dress and hair should not disrupt classes,
interfere with learning, prevent instruction, and should comply with state health and
safety standards. MPS believes that requiring neat, clean, and appropriate clothing
encourages an atmosphere conducive to learning, work, and discipline.
Shirts
Plain collared shirt (polo style)
 Long sleeves or short sleeves with NO brand logos (Walter T. McKee Middle
monogram optional)

6th graders——Gold shirts

7th graders——Royal Blue shirts

8th graders——Red shirts

 Shirts must be tucked into pants or skirts, with NO cleavage visible.


 Students must wear appropriate color grade-level shirt as indicated above.
Pants/Slacks
Khaki slacks or shorts (no denim)
 Cargo/shorts pants are NOT PERMITTED
 Khaki skirts, dresses and jumpers must be no higher than knee length from
the crease in the back of the knee. Slits must meet knee length regulation.
Undershirts
 If worn, only plain white crew neck t-shirts may be worn under shirt.
 No undergarments should be visible through shirt.
Belts
 Students must have on a solid color belt.
 Belts must be worn and fit properly (no part of belt is to hang below waist).
 Standard buckles only (no over-sized buckles)
 No sparkling or diamond belts or buckles
 No studded belts
Shoes and Socks
 Shoes must cover feet.
 Athletic shoes must be worn daily due to physical educational requirements.
 NO open toe shoes are permitted.
 Socks are optional. If worn, socks must be black, white or brown.
 NO bedroom slippers, stilettos, flip flops, sandals or slides will be allowed
(Crocs, potato shoes, Birkenstocks and similar slides are not allowed
Jewelry
The ONLY jewelry allowed will be:
 Studs and/or dime size hoop earrings
 1 watch
 For safety reasons, visual piercing jewelry will be limited to EARS ONLY.
 Additional jewelry including, long necklaces, accessories with spikes/chains,
heavy medallions, removable dental grills, heavy or multiple bracelets and
large finger rings WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.

Head Wear
 Hats, caps, headbands, sweatbands, bandanas, visors, skull caps, hair wraps,
head scarfs and sunglasses are NOT permitted.
 Hair color or markings should not be distracting.
Book Bags/Backpacks/Purses/Drawstring
See through mesh bookbags will be permitted/ no purses over 6 inches in length or
width. Students must place book bags and/or backpacks in their lockers during
homeroom.
P. E. Uniform
 Red, Black, Grey, Gold Athletic shorts (all grades)
 Plain-White, Black, Grey, Gold, Red t-shirts for males
 Plain-White t-shirts for females
 Any Athletic shoe
Outerwear
 All coats, jackets, and sweaters (outerwear) MUST have a zipper or buttons.
 Outerwear, cannot be zipped, buttoned, tied, etc., while inside the school.
Pullover hoodies or Jackets with hoods are not allowed on campus
PERIOD………
 Double-layered coats/and heavy coats must be placed in lockers upon
arriving to school. Wind-breakers, sweaters, and light jackets with no lining
can be worn in the classroom.
