Questions 158-160 refer to the following instruction.

How to use Clorox in your washing machine

Measure out Clorox detergent concentrate (1 scoop per medium load of clothes) into a cup of lukewarm
water and allow it to dissolve completely for about 5-10 minutes or until it can no longer be seen. Turn
on your washing machine, choosing the shortest cycle and making sure your soiled clothes are fully
immersed in water. Next, pour the Clorox mixture onto the clothes. Let clothes soak for at least 15
minutes to allow Clorox’s fast-penetrating formula to work on grime, stains and odors.* Next, close the
lid and continue the cycle. With Clorox you can say goodbye to scrubbing, cut down on wash time and
save on electricity.

Diaz Motors yesterday announced substantial changes at the company's assembly plants in Guanajuato,
where it employs 2,800 people, and Puebla, where it employs 1,300. From May 1, staff will work four-
day weeks and take 15% reductions in base salaries. —[1]— This policy will be subject to a 12-month
review, at which time the company will decide whether to continue it.

CEO Felipe Kahlo said the move was designed to secure the long-term competitiveness of the company.
—[2]— Earlier this month, Diaz introduced a voluntary layoff program and eliminated 400 part-time jobs
at its subsidiary component plant just outside of Mexico City. Diaz's board of directors has also
reportedly discussed outsourcing some processes to lower-cost Guatemala.

have fallen by 63% over the past three months. This decline is inevitable despite a $300 million
investment the company made recently in advanced production technologies. Diaz stock held steady in
light trading on the announcement.

Along the edges of Cupertino Woods stands a stone fortress left over from the Spanish colonial era. For
years, this structure was abandoned, but recently McMillan Entertainment Group has converted it into a
deluxe restaurant, which opened last month. The authentic atmosphere makes the restaurant a hit with
adults and children alike. Its cheerful staff serves up a mouth-watering menu of seafood and Caribbean
dishes with a smile. Also, El Patino boasts of its outdoor terrace and its stunning view of Cupertino Lake.

The restaurant is gaining a reputation for its themed special events. Examples include a medieval theme
featuring customized menus and period-specific costumes for the staff, as well as a Polynesian package

The Evolution of a City
When the Boulevard Shopping Center opened on Sunrise Boulevard in August last year, Oakville City
mayor Rosario Dawson anticipated that it would benefit the city by bringing shoppers from nearby
towns to the area. In view of a 30 percent increase in the city’s sales tax receipts over the last six
months, Ms. Dawson seems to have been correct.
However, little has been mentioned regarding the potential impact of such commercial development on
the city's downtown business district, which includes a number of small, family-owned stores and
restaurants. In the past two months, three of these businesses - Vatican Books, Casanova Hair Salon, and
Taste of Tuscany - have either closed or announced plans to dose, all reporting a decline in customers
since the Boulevard's opening.
Still the mayor believes that the overall effects of new developments such as the Boulevard Shopping
Center are positive. “It's certainly disappointing when a beloved business like Taste of Tuscany closes,”
she said, “but new businesses bring new opportunities for all residents of Oakville City, including new
jobs.”

To: Division Managers Memo
From: Melinda Dillon, COO
Date: August 12
Subject: Business report
Colleagues,
In yesterday's meeting, we discussed whether there is a correlation between the amount of money
spent on marketing certain products and the revenue generated from those products. Currently, we can
say that the connection is not very clear. We reviewed the list that compares shopper spending traits,
and found some surprises. Roxane Johnson had to miss the meeting, but we talked afterwards. She
pointed out the products that experienced high sales growth.
You might intuitively feel that we have to spend more money on our products experiencing the lowest
sales. However, I think it would be better instead to increase marketing support for our products
experiencing the highest sales.
If a product category is experiencing weak sales, I do not think that more advertising alone can improve
the situation. Instead, we have to look at other factors, such as quality or price. That is what I tried to
stress to Pace Lee, who unexpectedly but fortunately was able to join the meeting. He seemed to agree
with my analysis. In any event, I have attached a report detailing this idea, which I’d like to discuss at our
next meeting. I don't think that we should put it off until the last gathering of the month.
Thank you.

L’Assiette
If you are looking for a break from traditional Thai food while traveling in Phuket, and if you are not on a
tight budget, l'Assiette offers fine French cuisine in the jewel of southern Thailand. Every entrée that we
tried was delicious though the prices were quite high compared to other dining establishments in the
area.
***
The restaurant has great entrées crafted by the owner and head chef Éric Ripert, who attended École
Lenôtre, one of the most prestigious culinary schools in Paris. I highly recommend Coquilles Saint-
Jacques and Saumon mi cuit et crème d’endives.

L’Assiette Comment Card

Comments:
I’m happy that I came across your restaurant while casually reading a review in Mook Travel Guide to
Thailand, as I often travel to Phuket on business. I usually eat at the Thai places while I am here, but that
can get a bit bland during extended stays. In general, I enjoyed my meal, but what I did not particularly
care for was the entree, which was recommended in the guidebook. I think the lemon overpowered the
fish and it was a bit too sour. However, the server was very courteous and thoughtful, and the food was
not included on my bill. I will definitely come back the next time I visit Phuket.
