Step 4 – The Biography
Download Annex 1 and go to step 4 – The Biography. Choose one of the
biographies given, organize chronologically, write the verb in the correct
tense and answer the questions.
The Wailers' first album ‘Catch a Fire’ was released in 1973 and sold
well. Another album followed a year later which included the song ‘I
Shot The Sheriff’. Eric Clapton’s cover of the song in 1974 brought
Marley a lot of global attention. In 1975, Marley __released_ his
breakthrough song ‘No Woman, No Cry’, still _regarded as a classic
today.
Marley left Jamaica for England in 1976 to record his ‘Exodus’ and ‘Kaya’
albums. He toured the world and performed to campaign against
apartheid in South Africa and to celebrate Zimbabwe’s independence. He
died of cancer in 1981, aged 36. He was given a state funeral in
Jamaica according to the Rastafari tradition. He continues to be an
important influence on today’s music.
Robert "Bob" Nesta Marley is the greatest ever reggae singer. He spread
reggae and his message of love and unity to a worldwide audience. His
live performances were legendary for their passion and energy. Marley’s
album ‘Exodus’ was voted by ‘Time’ magazine as the best of the 20th
Century. The BBC declared his song ‘One Love’ as the song of the
millennium.

Enzo Ferrari
Ferrari was born in Modena, Italy. He grew up with a passion for fast
cars and racing. He served in the Italian Army during World War I. After
he returned home, he tried to find a job at FIAT, without success. He
joined a smaller car company called CMN and took up racing in 1919 but
was not so successful.
Ferrari’s first victory came in the British Grand Prix in 1951. The first
championship came in the 1952-53 season. Ferrari started making
sports cars in order to finance his Grand Prix and Le Mans adventures.
Ferrari headed the company until he stepped down in 1971. He died in
his hometown of Modena. His name is the most famous in motor sports.
Enzo Ferrari was born in 1898 and died in 1988. He made his name
known all over the world for fast cars and motor racing. Ferrari was an
Italian car driver and businessman. He founded the Scuderia Ferrari
Grand Prix motor racing team. It became the most successful Formula 1
team in history. Ferrari also built a factory to produce super-fast sports
cars.
