spaces provided below each question.
(f) Marks may be given for correct working even if the answer is wrong.
(g) Non – programmable silent electronic calculators and KNEC Mathematical tables may be
used, except where stated otherwise.
(h) This paper consists of 15 printed pages. Candidates should check the question paper to
ascertain that all the pages are printed as indicated and that no questions are missing.

3. Five years ago, Ruth was four times as old as her son Benjamin. In seven years time, the sum of their
ages will be 64 years. Find the age of Ruth when Benjamin was 2 years old. (3 marks)
4. Three interior angles of an irregular polygon are 3x 5 , 2 x 66 and 5 x 41 while the remaining
six interior angles are 130o each. Find;
5. A green grocer distributed his bags of cabbages as follows. A certain hospital received a quarter of the
total number of bags. A nearby school received half of the remainder. A greengrocer received a third of
what the school received. What remained were six bags more than what the greengrocer received. How
many bags of cabbages did the farmer have? (3 marks)

2:30 p.m. Given that the distance between Kisii and Kisumu is 300 km, find the difference in speed of
the two vehiles. (4 marks)

12. A Kenyan bank bought and sold Japanese Yen when the rates are as shown below.
A Kenyan businessman who travelled to Japan converted Ksh 806 880 to Japanese Yen. He spent 75%
of the amount and then converted the balance into Kenyan shillings at the same bank when the buying
rate increased by 1.2% while the selling rate increased by 1.5%. Calculate the amount of money in
Kenya Shillings that he received from the bank. (3 marks)

15. The number of boys and girls who sat for success path Mock examination 2024 are in the ratio of 4:5
respectively. The students who registered for Post Mock exams were 5000, this is 10% increase in
candidature compared to those who did Mock exams. If boys who registered for post Mock exams were
400 more than those who did Mock exams, find the ratio of girls to boys who did post mock exams.

16. The figure below shows triangle ABC and its image ABC under a transformation T. Describe
transformation T and hence draw triangle ABC the image of ABC under reflection in the mirror

17. A solid consist of a frustum and a hemispherical base. The height of the solid is 39.75 cm. The top and
bottom radii of the frustum are 10.5 cm and 15.75 cm respectively. Find;
(a) The slant height of the cone from which the frustum was cut. (3 marks)
(c) The total surface area of the solid to 3 significant figures. (4 marks)
(b) Find the area bounded by the curve y 2 x 2 mx 54 and the line y 7 x 42 using;
(i) Trapezium rule with 7 strips. (5 marks)
(b) An industrial company Q bought 7 litres of chemical of type A and 12 litres of chemical of type B at
Kshs.20 800 while company T paid Kshs.20 640 for 9.5 litres of chemical of type A and 6.8 litres of
chemical of type B.
(i) Form a simplified matrix equation to represent the above information. (2 marks)
(ii) Use matrix method to find the cost of one litre of each kind of the chemicals. (4 marks)
20. A businessman introduced a new product and carried out some market research. The table below is a
summary of the ages of people who say they will buy the product.
(b) (i) On the grid provided below, draw a histogram to represent the information provided in the

21. An irregular pentagon below, represent the shape of a forest PQRST. The length RS = ST, TR = 103 km,
TP = 46 km, QR = 102 km, angle TPQ = 72o and angle PTQ is a right angle trinangle.
(b) Find the reflex angle PTS correct to one decimal place. (4 marks)
(c) Find the area of the forest to four significant figures. (4 marks)
22. Four war ships F, G, H and M are on sea, such that G is located on a bearing of 055 o at a distance of 50
km from ship F. Ship H is 75 km on a bearing of 130 o from ship G. ship M is on a bearing of 240o from
H at a distance of 72 km from ship F.
(a) Using a scale of 1 cm to represent 10 km, show relative positions of ships F, G, H and M.
