Classification of Dams
There are various ways of classification of dams. Some of them
are as discussed below
i. Classification according to use: Storage dam, Diversion
dam and Detention dam
ii. Classification according to hydraulic design: Overflow dam
and Non-overflow dam
iii. Classification according to construction materials used:
Rigid dam and Non-rigid dam
iv. Classification according to capacity: Large dam and Small
dam
