1. (a) State six similarities found in both Biblical and traditional African views on
creation (6Mks)
i. In both, God’s work of creation is still ongoing
ii. In both creation is the work of a supreme being/God. In both continues to
sustain/provive for his creation
iii. In both god is the source of life
iv. In both creation was done in an orderly manner
v. In both human beings are in charge of the creation/have authority over creation
vi. In both human beings are at the centre/climax of God’s creation

(b) Outline the responsibilities given to human beings by God from the Biblical creation
stories in Genesis 1 and 2. (6Mks)
i. Human beings are to till/ cultivate the land
ii. Human beings have been given dominion/be in charge of God’s creation/
subdue/control the earth/creation.
iii. Human beings are to guard/protect /conserve/care for the land/keep it.6
iv. Human beings are to obey God’s command/ instructions.
v. Human beings are to many companionship/procreation.

(c) Identify eight ways in which people in traditional African communities take care of
God’s Creation (8Mks)
i. By providing basic needs for themselves/their families
ii. They build shelters for domestic animals.
iii. They welcome/ show hospitality to strangers/visitors.
iv. They share their resources with the needy.
v. By planting/conserving vegetation/protecting vegetation.
vi. They have herbal medicine to treat various ailments for both animals and human
beings.
vii. By preserving habitats for wild animals
viii. By observing personal hygiene
ix. By protecting water catchment areas
x. By practicing good farming methods that protect/enhance soil fertility/control soil
erosion.
2.(a) Ways that king David used to promote the worship of God in Israel
i. He brought the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem.
ii. He made Jerusalem a holy city where Israelites from all over the land came for
important religious occasion.
iii. He composed the Psalms which were used in worship by the Israelites.
iv. He showed respect to the prophets of Yahweh/listened to their messages.
v. He wanted to build a temple for God/made preparations for its construction.
vi. When he made mistakes, he asked for Yahweh’s forgiveness/repented.
vii. He sought for God’s guidance in whatever he wanted to do
viii. He entered into a covenant with God.
ix. He build alters / offered sacrifices

(b) Identify ways in which King Jeroboam contributed to religious schism
between Judah and Israel.
i. He stopped the Israelites from going to worship in Jerusalem.
ii. He made golden calves and placed one at Bethel and another at Dan to represent
Yahweh.
iii. He set up two rival places of worship at Dan and Bethel.
iv. He made Israelites to offer sacrifices to the golden calves.
v. He chose priests from ordinary families i.e. those who did not belong to the tribe of
Levi to serve at worship centers.
vi. He burnt incense at altars of the idols i.e. he worshipped idols thus breaking the first
commandment.
vii. He instituted religious festivals and feasts in the months of his choice.
viii. He led a revolt that led to the split of the kingdom
ix. He did not listen to the advice of the prophet of God
x. He offered his own sacrifice on the altar yet he was not a priest.

(c) How the church helps to bring back members who have fallen from faith

3. a) Outline the message of angel Gabriel to Mary in Luke 1:26-38.
i. She was highly favoured among women.
ii. She will bring forth a son/will be named Jesus.
iii. He will be called the son of highest/son of Gog/will be great.
iv. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever.
v. The kingdom will be everlasting.
vi. The Holy Spirit would come upon her.
vii. The child to be born would be holy.
viii. That Elizabeth her cousin had also conceived in her old age.
ix. With God, nothing will be impossible.

b) Explain what the Magnificent reveals about the nature of God.


i. God is a savior because he remembers the lowly.
ii. God is mighty for the scatters the proud/ does great things.
iii. God is holy from generation to generation/Holy is his name.
iv. God is merciful to those who fear him/from generation to generation.
v. God is caring/ protective because He exalts the humble.
vi. He is a provider/ sustainer because he fills the hungry.
vii. He is faithful because he keeps his promises.

c) Identify six qualities shown by Jesus when he accompanied his parents to the temple
at the age of twelve.
i. He was obedient.

viii. He was assertive/independent/making independent decisions
ix. He was social/ outgoing

4a) Teachings on how human beings should relate to one another from sermon on the
plain.
i. Human beings should love their enemies
ii. Human beings should do good to those who hate them.
iii. Human beings should bless those who curse them.

vi. Human beings should be compassionate to one another

b) Incident when Jesus calmed the storm.


i. Jesus got into a boat with his disciples.
ii. He told them that they should go to the other side of the lake and they set off.
iii. On the way, Jesus fell asleep.
iv. A storm of wind came down the lake.
v. The bout was filled with water/they were in danger.
vi. The disciples went and woke up Jesus saying, ‘master’, we are perishing.
vii. Jesus woke up and rebuked the wind
viii. The storm subsided.
ix. Jesus asked them where their faith was
x. They were afraid. They wondered who Jesus was that even the wind obeyed him.

c) Reasons why Christians should accept to suffer.


i. Suffering leads to eternal life. Christ suffered, Christians should also accept suffering.

a. The teachings of Jesus on the qualities of a true disciple. (Luke: 20- 49)
i. Perseverance in the face of persecution.
ii. A true disciple should endure suffering.
ii. Unwavering faith in Jesus – A true disciple should have a absolute faith in God
iii. Love for enemies- A true disciple should love even their enemies / pray for them.
iv. Obedience/ implementers of the teachings of Jesus – A true disciple should accept the
lordship
v. Forgiving others – A true disciple should love their enemies / pray for them.
vi. Generosity /kindness – A true disciples should share with others / be generous.
vii. Not to judge others – A true disciple should exercise self-criticism before judging others.

b. The incident in which Jesus forgave the sinful woman. Luke 7:36-50)
i. Simon the Pharisee invited Jesus to his house to eat with him.
ii. A woman who was known to be a sinner came to Jesus with an alabaster flask of ointment.
iii. She started weeping/ wiped the feet of Jesus with hair / kissed/ anointed the feet of Jesus.
iv. Simon wondered how Jesus could allow such a sinner to touch him.
v. Jesus asked Simon who among the two debtors was more grateful.
vi. Simon answered that the debtors who had more was more grateful.
vii. Jesus told Simon that the sinful woman had shown a lot of love because her many sins
had been forgiven.
viii. Jesus told the woman to go in peace for her faith had saved her/her sins had been
forgiven

c. In what ways is the Church in Kenya promoting justice in the society.


i. Christians should show compassion to all regardless of their gender, age,
religion
