Topic
Oscillations and Waves
Motion
1. PERIODIC MOTION
Any motion that repeats itself in equal interval of
time is called periodic motion. Such as ,motion of a
pendulum ,the earths motion around the sun.
2. OSCILLATORY MOTION
If a particle in periodic motion moves back and forth over the
same path we call the motion oscillatory .Motion of a simple
pendulum , motion of vibrating tuning fork and string of guitar.
3. HARMONIC MOTION
A periodic motion in which the displacement
is symmetrical about a point or a periodic motion that
is composed of such motions.
2. ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES
This waves require no material medium to exist. Can
be transferred through a vacuum .Light waves, radio
waves ,microwaves ,X-rays etc. are the example of
electromagnetic waves.
3. MATTER WAVES
These waves are associated with electrons, protons,
and other fundamental particles, and even atoms
and molecules. The matter wave describes the
relationship between momentum and wavelength.
Transverse Waves
Anti-node
A anti-node is a point along a
standing wave where the wave has
maximum amplitude.
