General information
In electrical systems, some parts are of course live. Some parts can
also have high operating temperatures.
Only use the equipment unit after it has been grounded according to
instructions. The grounding system shall meet national
requirements.
The RASCO module contains a lithium cell. If this cell is incorrectly
exchanged, there is a risk of explosion.
This lithium cell may only be replaced by an identical or similar type
recommended by the manufacturer.
Dispose of used batteries according to the specifications of the
manufacturer.
1.3.2 Equipment safety
C-MOS units are electrostatically-sensitive components. Always read
the handling instructions.
When handling PCBs, always wear a grounding bracelet to avoid
damage to the C-MOS components through electrostatic discharge.
If you transfer modules or equipment units from a cold to a warmer
atmosphere, this may result in condensation forming on the modules
or units.
Do not start up modules or equipment units if they are covered with
condensation. Dry them before switching them on.

2.3.10 Setting the SectorID
The Sector ID permits an unambiguous assignment of a sector in the
entire network. This Sector ID must be set for a configuration with XML
files. In case of an initial commissioning process, it is set to _DEFAULT_ .
This ID can be changed in the SECO or by means of a XML control file.
This is obligatory for a network-wide configuration by means of Caliph++
via XML.
A Sector ID unambiguous in the network permits the distribution of a XML
configuration file to all sectors. Each sector can then identify and read its
own configuration part by means of the Sector ID.
The 9-digit Sector ID is entered in RASCO under the SECO menu items
Settings à Sector Profile + System Data.

2.4 Configuring the BST modems
2.4.1 MUX ID and MUX port configuration (only with MSV5)
With system version MDMS V4.3 and Multiplex Software 4.2 or higher, the
MUX ID and MUX port are configured partly automatically.
As to whether this feature is activated is displayed by the RASCO menu
under Settings à Sector Profile + System Data in the SECO.
Automatic configuration:
For this function, the MuxConfigurationDetection feature must be
activated in the RASCO.
In case of a new installation, it can be activated by downloading the
following control file:
C:\Marconi\MDMS\Radio-Core\V4_30\Generic\RASCO\V4_30\
SystemProperty_MuxConfDetectOn.xml.
This feature reads out the CDN ID of MSV5 and/or the ANU-SISA address
of the RNU as well as the SISA function number of the Multiplex port.
The automatic configuration is required for RNU-8MIP operation.
Prerequisite:
This port must be involved in a NU link and the port mode must be
adjusted to a MDMS application, in order to ensure that MSV5 transmits
the MUX port configuration.
Note: When commissioning the first link, both the MUX port and
Radio ID have to be manually entered in the BST modem.
Afterwards, the multiplex connection must be activated under 'MP
Sector'.
Manual configuration:
In case of problems with the 'MuxConfigurationDetection' or in situations
where there is no MSV5, this feature can be switched off.
· To do this, download the following control file to the RASCO:
C:\Marconi\MDMS\Radio-Core\V4_30\Generic\RASCO\V4_30\
SystemProperty_MuxConfDetectOff.xml.
· In the Modem Manager, then enter the MUX ID and MUX Port under
Modem Status & Settings.
If a MSV5 is not available, maintain the default value 0/0.
2.4.2 E1 port settings

2.5 Configuring Terminal Modems
For each newly detected BST modem, the RASCO automatically provides
a TS modem and link.
Modem addressing via the Factory ID as used in previous MDMS versions
has been replaced by an addressing scheme using a 9-digit Modem ID.
For BST modems, this Modem ID always corresponds to the Modem
Factory ID. The latter is automatically detected by the RASCO and cannot
be changed.
For TS modems, the Modem ID is changeable.
In case of updates, it is also identical with the Factory ID.
Unconfigured TS modems have a Pseudo-Modem ID, "--------0“ etc..
As with previous MDMS versions, this Pseudo-Modem ID can be changed
to the Factory ID.
To do this, call up the Modems menu and activate the Edit Mode. Enter
the Modem ID and click Replace Modem ID by means of the right mouse
button.
2.6 Combining Terminal Modems
With this new feature offered as from system version MDMS V4.2
onwards, several arbitrary Terminal Modems are combined to one
Terminal (Logical Link ID). Thus, the Terminal can be displayed by the

RNU to which this NU link is to belong.
Assign an E1 port of the TU-2M to the NU link.
CAUTION! If the radio links in the Radio Unit are set to "DBA“ mode, you must enter
the number of the E1 port (SISA view in the Signal Structure) and the
SISA address of MSV5-D also in the Base Station in the associated BST
modem under FE Port and CDN ID.
If the RASCO feature MuxConfigurationDetection is switched on, the
FE Port / CDN-ID must be configured in the BST modem only for the first
NU link per sector.
If the MUX port is not configured correctly in the RASCO, DBA operation
is not possible.
In addition, you must check the signal structure to ensure that CRC4 is
activated on the E1 port.
Finally, set the B-channels to be made available for voice or data services
in the NU link to V5 use.

4.3 CDNx-IP configuration
It is assumed that all parameters specified in section 4.1.x have been
supplied by the Planning Group.
For configuring the CDNx-IP, a Terminal program is required (serial
connection between the PC and CDNx-IP, T-parameter 9600/8/N/1).
After a successful connection setup, you are requested to log in and to
enter your password.
4.3.1 Software
First of all, you must request the software version by means of the "config"
command and compare it to the version to be used according to the
planning documents.
If these two software versions are not identical, you must now download
the correct software:
· Start the TFTP server (connect the PC (host) via an IP connection
(LAN) to the CDNx-IP).
· Copy the current software into the TFTP directory.
· Download the software from the PC to the CDNx-IP: "loadimage
<Filename> <host>:
· With the CDN8-IP (Release MDMS4.2 and higher), you must still
activate the software (dual-target feature), since it first runs only in the
test mode. Activate it with "markimage ok“.
4.3.2 Server for automatic configuration (optional)
A RARP server can be used for an automatic (dynamic) IP-address
assignment to the CDNx-IP. A DHCP server (BootP, TFTP) can be used

other protocols are bridged.
4.3.13.2 Bridge Port parameters:
In menu 5-2 "Port Parameters“, the status of the LAN/DNL ports can be
selected (active/not active). Thus, ports at which no packets shall be
bridged can be disabled, i.e. blocked.
In case of a CDN2-IP with activated Spanning Tree algorithm, the
following port-specific Spanning Tree parameters can be set:
· Spanning tree (yes/no, selection as to whether the system shall use
the Spanning Tree algorithm).
Note: The default value for the DNL port is initially not active.
· Port priority (0..255)
· Path costs (1..65535; it is recommended to use the quotient of 1000
and the transmission rate (in Mbit/s) of the medium connected as
default value).
4.3.14 Saving and rebooting
After the successful completion of the configuration process, the
configuration data must be saved via the main menu (Main menu – 8
"Save Changes“) before leaving the Configuration menu.
Page 4-14 ...... Marconi
AN00275896 Base Station Commissioning Instructions
Edition g/08.2004 CDN-IP Configuration
After leaving the Configuration menu, the CDNx-IP must be rebooted à
"reboot“, in order to take over the new parameters.
4.3.15 Checking the V5 interface status on the MSV5
(V5 operation)
After the CDNx-IP has been configured and rebooted, its V5.2 interfaces
are started and their status is displayed in the V5 Management of the
MSV5. For this purpose, connect the LMT to MSV5, activate the "V5
Structure“ window and select the V5 Control menu item "V5 Control
Administration“.
After the successful IF start, the operational state displayed is "enabled"
and the administratvie state is "active". (During the startup phase, the
administrative state is displayed to be "In startup phase").
4.3.16 Saving the configuration file
After the successful configuration of the CDNx-IP, its configuration data
should be saved to PC, in order to be able to re-load this configuration in
case of a later hardware fault or CDNx-IP replacement.
For this purpose, proceed as follows:
· Start the TFTP server (PC (host) connected via an IP link (LAN) to the
CDNx-IP).
· Save the CDNx-IP configuration to the TFTP-In directory of the PC:
"saveconfig <Filename> <host IP-address>.
If required, this configuration file can be loaded again later using TFTP
and the "loadconfig“ command (see Section 4.4).
Marconi ...... Page 4-15

CDN-IP Configuration Edition g/08.2004
4.4 Replacement
It is assumed that the configuration file which has been saved on
completion of the configuration process is available (see section 4.3.15).
First replace the defective CDNx-IP.
Switch on the new CDNx-IP. Then set up a serial connection between a
PC and the CDNx-IP and start a Terminal program (e.g. Hyperterminal)
(T-parameter 9600/8/N/1/N).
After having successfully set up the connection, you are requested to log
in and enter your password.
Now the software version must be requested using the "config" command
and then compared to the version specified in the planning documents.
If a software version different from the one specied is used, you must first
download the correct software:
· Start the TFTP server (PC (host) connected via an IP link (LAN) to the
CDNx-IP).
· Copy the actual software to the TFTP directory.
· Load the software from the PC to the CDNx-IP: "loadimage
<Filename> <host>:
· With the CDN8-IP (Release MDMS4.2 and higher), the software must
still be activated (dual-target feature), since the SW is first running in
the test mode. Activate it with "markimage ok“.
Now download the CDNx-IP configuration file stored in the PC (see
section 4.3.15) to the new CDNx-IP using TFTP:
· Start the TFTP server (PC (host) connected via an IP link (LAN) to the
CDNx-IP).
· Copy the configuration file to the TFTP-Out directory.
· Downlaod the configuration from the PC to the CDNx-IP: "loadconfig
<Filename> <host IP-address>.
To activate the configuration, reboot the CDNx-IP by means of the
"reboot“ command.
Afterwards, you can check again the V5 interface status of the
corresponding V5.2 interfaces on the MSV5. For this purpose, connect the
LMT to MSV5, activate the "V5 Structure“ window and select the V5
Control menu item "V5 Control Administration“.
After the successful IF start, the operational state displayed is "enabled"
and the administratvie state is "active". (During the startup phase, the
administrative state is displayed to be "In startup phase").
