Lesson Musculo-Skeletal System
8 and Integumentary System
Together

The Skeletal System is made up of your bones, teeth, cartilage and tendons
that connect them. Its functions include:

• movement
• strength
• protecting vital organs
• storing calcium and vitamins

The Integumentary system works with the muscular system to guard the
muscles. They produce heat and increases blood flow to the skin. The heat causes
sweat glands to activate.

8. it regulates body temperature

9. it is strong enough to support your body but light enough so that you can move
easily

10. it is composed of skin, hair, and nails

Notes to the Teacher

This module will help the students to know how the Musculoskeletal
system and integumentary work together

4
What’s New

The Musculoskeletal and integumentary system are both needed

by our body. The skeletal system is protected by the muscular system
while the muscular is protected by the integumentary system.

Let us find out how each organ is connected.

Write the correct answer beside of each system

MUSCULO-SKELETAL INTEGUMENTARY
SYSTEM SYSTEM

Ligaments it protects the lungs

Melanin it connects the bone to another bone

Nails it gives a dark color

Ribs it protects the tip of the fingers

Skeletal System it is attached to the bones

5
What is It

As we studied, our body is made up of different organs to function properly.

The different system like Musculoskeletal and Integumentary system are working
together to maintain the proper function of the body.

How do they work together? Although these two systems are very different,
they work together to defend, support, and allow movement in our body.

INTEGUMENTARY SYSTEM SKELETAL SYSTEM MUSCULAR SYSTEM

Imagine if your bones and muscles do not have any cover. What do you think
your body looks like?

The bones perform different function into our body because without this we
would not be able to walk or even sit upright it also protects the important and
delicate organs inside us while the muscle is a tough and elastic tissue that enables
us to move freely. The skeletal and muscular system are connected because they are
both gives shapes to our body.

Like other body systems, the integumentary system is the one that protects
our body. It is composed of skin, nails, and hair. Skin is the largest organ of the body
that covers all over the body (Musculoskeletal system). The skin protects the body
from too much exposure to sunlight. Aside from skin, the nails and the hair serve as
protection to our body. The nails protect the sensitive tips of fingers and toes while
the hair protects other parts of the body like the eyes, nose, and the head from dust
and other particles.

6
The Musculoskeletal and integumentary system are working together because
they both have functions to make our body perform as what we need. Thus, we
should take care of these organs by giving proper care. Here are some tips to follow
to maintain a healthy body.

Eat a
well-
balanced
diet

Have enough
sleep every
day

Take a bath
everyday to
keep you
clean and Maintain Have enough
relaxed good exercises
posture

What’s More

Read the sentences carefully. Write M if it is the function of Musculoskeletal

System and I Integumentary System.
___________1. It protects the lungs
___________2. It is attached to the bones
___________3. It protects the tip of the finger
__________ 4. It connects the bones to another bones
_________ _5. It gives a pigment color to skin
__________ 6. It serves as the support of our body
__________ 7. Uses the skin to determine the body temperature
__________ 8. It contains a melanocytes or cells that contain melanin
__________ 9. It includes the biceps and the triceps
_________ 10. It consists of tough fibers which is elastic and firm

7
What I Have Learned

How do Musculoskeletal System and Integumentary system work together

and what is the function of each system?

• Our skeletal and muscular system support and give shape to our body.
They work together to make the movement of the body possible while the
integumentary system is the organ that protects them.

• Skin is the largest organ that covers the whole body from head to toe. It
also protectss our body from too much exposure to the sun that can
cause harmful effect on our body.

• The other parts of the integumentary system also serve as protection like
the nails it protects the tips of the fingers and toes, the hair protects from
small dust and small particles that enter our body.

• We should also keep the Musculoskeletal and integumentary system

healthy by:

a. Get enough sleep

b. Eat well a balanced diet
c. Keep on exercise
d. Take a bath every day
e. Maintain a good posture

What I Need to Know

We already know that another organ that excretes waste is the skin. When
you sweat, your skin excretes water, salts, and a small percentage of urea. In this
section, however, we will focus on the excretory system to remove metabolic waste
from our blood in the form of urine.

Do you know that your body produces waste materials? These wastes may be solid,
liquid, and/or gas. Can you name some of these wastes? At home, where do you keep your
garbage? If your bag contains some left-over food, what will you do?

Have fun discovering yourself!

After studying this module, you are expected to:

1. Explain how the organs of each organ system work together.

2. Describe how the organ of the Digestive, Respiratory and Circulatory System work
together
3. Discuss healthful habits that promote proper functioning of Digestive,
Respiratory and Circulatory System work together
(S6LTIIc-d2)

13
What I Know

Test yourself!
Before you proceed to this lesson let us find out if you have an idea of how the
DIGESTIVE, RESPIRATORY AND CIRCULATORY SYSTEM work together inside our
body.
Write the correct answer on the space provided to complete the paragraph.

The _____________________ system brings oxygen into our lungs when we

breathe. The _____________________ system breaks down the food into nutrients to
make it glucose while the ________________ system also transport the oxygen from
the lungs to different nerve cells.

The _______________ system also transport carbon dioxide waste from the
nerve cells inside the body to our __________________ system. Through the exchange
of gas when we breathe out carbon dioxide waste is removed from our body.

If you got all the answers correctly it

shows that you already know our topic it is
time for you to review because somehow
you may learn new things regarding this
lesson.
If you got a low score, it means that
this module will help you to understand
some important things about our topic to be
discussed.

14
Lesson Digestive, Respiratory and
9 Circulatory System work
Together
We know that our body is made up of cells and when these groups of cells do
the same kind of work, they are called tissues. These groups of tissues are called
organs. When organs work together, they are called systems.

Each of your body systems relies on the others to work well. Your digestive
system absorbs water and nutrients from the food you eat. Your respiratory
system depends on your circulatory system to deliver the oxygen it gathers, while
the muscles of your heart cannot function without the oxygen they receive from
your lungs.

What’s In

Let us recall the different organs in the different system of our bodies.

Put your answer inside the box

15
Notes to the Teacher
This module will help the students to know how the Digestive,
Respiratory and Circulatory system work together

16

_____
10. I have many tiny hairs that can catch the dust particles that enter
in your nose. (SNOSLIRTS) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

17
What is It

Organ systems working together carry out important tasks in the body. All the
system of our body needs to work to keep us healthy.

The Digestive, Respiratory and Circulatory systems work together because it

has a responsibility to keep our body in normal condition.

Our digestive system absorbs all the nutrients in the food we eat and water to
take while the circulatory system carrier all the nutrients, as well as the oxygen
throughout our body and the respiratory system, eliminated all the waste from the
cells.

Digestive System
Circulatory System

Digestive System

The partnership of its system does not end because the circulatory system
also delivers the carbon dioxide waste from the cells to the lungs of the respiratory
system. By way of gas exchange in the lungs, the carbon dioxide waste is pulled out
from your body when you breathe out.

Keep in mind that we need our body vigorous, so these are some healthy tips
to strengthen your body system

• Exercise regularly
• Eat healthy food such as fruits and vegetables
• Maintain proper hygiene
• Stay positive

18
What’s More

Read the given statement below, then answer the questions that follow: (10
pts.)

1. When you are running, as time passes by, you begin to breathe quick and
heavier thus your heart beats faster and need more oxygen that can enter to your
body. Which organ systems are working together? Why?
__________________________________________________________________________________
__________________________________________________________________________________

2. After doing an exercise, you felt tired and sweating. Drinking a glass of water can
make you feel better. In this situation which organ systems are working together?
