Welcome to the Technology and Livelihood Education 6 - Home Economics (HE) -


Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Module on Materials and Tools Needed for the
Project!

This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators both
from public and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping
the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming
their personal, social, and economic constraints in schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help
learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into consideration their
needs and circumstances.

1 Needed for the Project
This lesson will provide knowledge and skills to identifies supplies/materilas and
tools needed for the project. Most important materials and tools needed for sewing
are tailor’s chalk, pattern paper, pins, pincussion, emery bag, scissors, L-square,
tape measure, hand needle and ruler.

What is It

Materials Commonly Needed for Sewing

Tailor’s chalk – a hard chalk or soap


stone used in tailoring and dressmaking
for marking fabric.

Pattern paper – a large thin flat case


for loose sheets of paper such
as drawing or drafting pattern.

Pins – are meant to keep the fabric in


place while cutting or sewing.

Hand Needle - is used in making


temporary stitches and buttonholes.
Sizes of 7 to 10 are general hand
sewing.

Tools Commonly Needed for Sewing

Pincushion __ a small cushion into


which pins are stuck for convenient
storage. It holds the straight pins and needles
while working to prevent accidents.

Emery bag - used for thrusting needles


and pins . They sharpen the needles and
rust.

Scissors- used to cut the fabric and


thread.

L-square- this is used to transfer


measurement .

Tape Measure- used to take measurement
mostly on curvy lines. The front has the
measurement of 150 centimeters and 60
inches on the other side.

Ruler – used to measure length, width and


thickness of short flats object and
sketching straight lines .It also aids in
connecting lines. A clear ruler is also a
good tool for marking buttonholes.
