50 Tech Tasks For Learning English
1. Make a voicethread for the class. Go to this class voicethread and introduce yourself.
Listen to your classmates talk about themselves. Practice your grammar on Voicethread.
2. Read some books on Gif Lingua. Select your level and a theme. Sign up and write a book
then show it to the class.
3. Go to Penzu and start a daily diary. Write about anything you want. Share it with your class
or teacher Also make a wiki and write there! Or just make a diary on Google Docs.
4. Send a video email on a topic with Chrome and Gmail. Just click, record and then send the
email to the teacher or to a shared class email address.
5. You be the teacher. Use Screencastify and send a screencast to the class explaining how to do
something online. How to use a program, use a website, code, install etc ...
6. Go to Padlet and make a wall. Brainstorm all you know about topic and post the information.
Invite classmates to comment. Also make a project wall with Lino.it , Jamboard or Trello.
7. Go to Lyrics Training and study English with your favorite songs. Share your results. Who in
the class can do better?
8. Visit Quizlet and study flashcard sets and quizzes related to your class topics. Even have a

16. DEAR: Drop Everything And Read. Read simple, student created books on
Tarheel Reader.

get a new random prompt and keep talking.
34. Practice pronunciation. Use the Sounds Of Speech app and practice effectively!
35. Students watch a How To video on eHow. After, students must explain to another
group how to do it. Then finish by watching the video again together.
36. Make a Project Peace class video. Use the Peace Song Packs. Spread the word and
emotion of peace in the world.
37. Go to GeoGuessr. Students compete to name places, countries, cities around
the world in this fun Google run geography game.
38. Make a private class Facebook group. Post a debate topic and students can debate a
topic there using the comment feature.
39. Watch a silent video and have one student in the group turn their back to the video.
The others in the group describe what’s happening in the video. Take turns.
40. Watch any news story. Students listen repeatedly and then try to report what the
5Ws were. Use these pre-made templates.
41. Try some online dictation. Listen and then type what you hear. It's that easy. Slow down
the speech if needed or pause. Try Redacto.
42. Use Twitter in your classroom. Favorite ways include using a hashtag and having
students play story tag – adding to a story sentence by sentence. Create a backchannel
for student comments during class on Backchannel Chat.
43. Translate with google. Students translate a passage from their native language into
English. Then, copy it into google translate and translate. Compare the two English
translations.
44. Try some speed reading. Use an online teleprompter like Zacue to read at a set speed.
Also try Cue Prompter to read the days news like a real anchor person.
45. Youglish. Get some pronunciation practice. Look up words on Youtube and then practice.
46. Practice your English typing/keyboard skills. Try the BBC’s Dance Mat.
47. Textivate. Students load in text from their coursebook and make exercises. Share the
link and other students can complete.
48. Learn English by watching movies and doing exercises related to the language in the movie.
