Installation Guide for The Sims Windows 10 Patch

Please note:
Patch installation and use is done at your own risk. I will not be held responsible for
corrupted or inoperable gameplay caused by the installation, use, or modification of the
Windows 10 Patch.
Introduction
So you have Windows 10 or Windows 7 OS. You also have The Sims on CD,
and you are wanting to play it. You install it, and all of the sudden, it won’t run.
Frustrating yes, but forever a lost cause, no. The game’s disc-copy protection is causing
Windows to render the game inoperable.
In case my video doesn’t help, or if you are more into reading of how to do
things, this guide is for you. Results may vary, pending your PC specs.
Before you begin, you will need:
 The Sims with all 7 expansions installed, or The Sims: Complete Collection
o Will also work with The Sims Deluxe, Double Deluxe, or Mega Deluxe
 Windows 10 or 7 Operating System
 The games MUST be on their physical game discs. It will not work with torrents
or digital downloads.
NOTE: I use The Sims: Deluxe with the remaining 6 expansions.
Instructions:
- Go to the following file on your PC:
o PC: > Drive (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Maxis > The Sims
- Scroll down until you find the following file: Sims.exe
- Rename the original “Sims.exe” file to “Sims.old”
- After renaming the file, install “Sims” file into the same destination. Leave it the
way it is.
- Add a shortcut to your desktop for easy startup.
Tips:
- If your game starts up and it can’t get out of the cycle loop (because of the
expansions), you may want to close out the game and try again. It will eventually
stop after a few startups. It would be recommended to click on a house or lot to
try and stop the cycle after it finishes.
- If the game still brings up the “Please use admin privileges and try again” memo,
either use the shortcut, or if it continues with the shortcut, reinstall the games and
then the patch.
- If none of the above works, then you’re on your own.
Trivia:
- If you use the shortcut, you don’t need the disc to play the game. I would still
keep the discs though.
