01 | JAPANESE INSPIRED PLACE SETTING

Throughout my travels in Japan, I became fascinated by the customs and small domestic rituals surrounding the preparation and presentation of a family meal. This 3D environment and place setting was an exploration of a traditional Japanese home dining environment updated with a more contemporary aesthetic.

02 | KOPE
Hawaii is known for producing some of the worlds best coffee. The most notable variety is grown in volcanic soil at higher elevations near Kona. Rainfall, temperature, soil, and attention to craft create the perfect combination to produce this excellent coffee. Kope (Hawaiian for coffee) was created to serve this notable coffee variety, while paying homage to its origin. The form was inspired by the Hawaiian islands and the volcanoes that created them. My increasing interest in coffee and the culture of the islands spurred the design of the carafe and coffee mugs. Double walled porcelain allows the mug to be held without a handle, always at a comfortable temperature. The smaller opening at the top keeps heat inside allowing the drink to maintain its temperature longer.

03 | PINEAPPLE EXPLORATION
Tasked with representing a natural object through two dimensional mediums, I was drawn to the variety of colors and textures found in the pineapple.

04 | FRINGE DESIGN CO
Fringe Design was formed as an outlet for creative exploration and expression. Since establishing Fringe, I have collaborated with a graphic designer to produce a logo, brand collateral, and an online presence that genuinely represents the ideals I hope to explore and promote with my body of work under Fringe. Fringe is an outlet to use high-quality, but humble materials to produce meaningful handmade items. Fringe has allowed me to experiment with various yarn types, stitching methods, and paper crafts, and has given me the opportunity to converse with, and respond directly to the thoughts of end user. Creating an online outlet for sales has allowed me to better understand the process and challenges of producing and selling handmade goods.

05 | TABBY TAILS CATTERY

Tabby Tails Cattery is a part renovation, part new construction project located in rural Oklahoma. It will serve as a boarding house and breeding facility for cats. The renovation of a barn on a previously developed site, is one contributing factor in this intended LEED certified building. Adaptive reuse of rustic materials, paired with modern touches and technology enable this project to fit its region, yet distinquish itself with modern detailing. Extensive research was done in the programming phase of the project, findings from this research established the square footage and locations of the internal spaces. The kennels were designed to respond to typical barn and silo structures. Each kennel space was designed to provide its occupant access to an outdoor run, covered shelter, and outdoor views to prevent boredom.

06 | WALKER RESIDENCE
Completed during my second year of undergraduate studies, this project consisted of a new construction home for a family in Edmond, Oklahoma. Intended to be an aging-in-place residence, this home was designed to comfortably accommodate three generations of a family. Emphasis was placed on creating spaces for entertaining, as well as separate, private areas. The client requested a transitional style home with craftsman aesthetics. Working with a real client provided experience in adapting to a changing project scope, as well as maintaining budget requirements and project deadlines.

07 | LOVALLO RESIDENCE
The Oklahoma Case Study House was inspired by the clients love of the mid-century California Case-Study houses, and designed to respond to an urban, elevated site. The main living space is located on the second floor. Emphasis was placed on creating an open environment for entertaining, while maintaining visual access to the Oklahoma City skyline to the southeast. To keep the kitchen area open, no wall mounted or overhead cabinets were used. All components of the kitchen are located out of sight in the central island. My contribution to the project consisted of appliance specification, coordination, and placement, as well as finish selections for the kitchen area.

08 | PALLET DISPLAY
Designed out of typically discarded materials, the pallet display is an low cost solution for a multipurpose display piece. For the redesign of a florist shop located in Crowley, Texas, the owner expressed the need for a new way of displaying a variety of plants and arrangements. Project parameters required the piece to function in the middle of a space, or against a wall. The display unit can be reproduced with reused pallets or similar recycled materials. Floral arrangements and potted plants connect to the slats via a standard and affordable Ikea bracket, allowing for an easy change of displays. A small shelf folds out of the unit for a prep space or secondary display surface.
