● Italians do not put different foods together on one plate, instead they
eat in courses. So, the salad often comes after the first course and the
meat, not the other way around.
Religion affecting italian food beliefs:
● In the Christian faith, many dietary restrictions were placed, as
different foods were associated with sin and sexuality (i.e. the apple of
Adam and Eve). Meat was eaten sparingly for religious reasons, and
thus the popularity of fish, bread, cheese, egg, legumes, and fruit
began to rise.
