What kind of violence against environment have you observed in your particular/own
community? Cite at least three (3) concrete examples.
- In my community, I have observed several environmental issues that negatively impact
the surroundings. First, improper waste disposal is a significant problem. Waste is often
scattered on the streets and clogs the drainage systems. As a result, when it rains heavily,
flooding occurs more quickly due to blocked drainage. Second, smoking is prevalent, and
this contributes to environmental damage. Cigarette smoke is harmful because it leads to
air pollution, which negatively affects people, animals, trees, and plants. Air pollution can
also increase the likelihood of more frequent rainfall due to changes in the atmosphere.
Lastly, tree cutting is common in our community. Trees are cut down to make way for
new houses or establishments. Deforestation is very harmful to the environment, as it
leads to habitat destruction, contributes to climate change, and reduces air quality by
decreasing the number of trees that absorb carbon dioxide.

Explain what are the causes of these violence?

- The lack of efficient waste disposal systems and public awareness about the importance
of proper trash disposal leads to waste being scattered on the streets. People may not be
aware of the long-term effects of clogged drainage, which causes flooding, or there may
be insufficient waste collection services and disposal facilities in the area. Moreover,
smoking is often driven by a lack of awareness about the environmental and health
consequences of cigarette smoke. In addition, the demand for more housing and
commercial establishments fuels deforestation in the community is driven by urban
expansion without proper environmental planning or policies to ensure that development
is sustainable.

What personal habit/s can you change in order to be more ecologically responsible?
Explain your answer.
- As an individual who wants to be more ecologically responsible, I aim to improve our
environment for everyone's benefit. I will practice proper waste disposal and recycling so
that items we often see scattered on the streets and clogging drainage systems can be
reused or processed properly. This is essential because improper waste disposal
frequently leads to flooding when it rains. It's important to have proper waste
management to prevent flooding, as it can significantly impact people's health and
damage property. Floods can lead to water contamination, the spread of diseases, and
costly damage to homes and infrastructure, making it crucial to address this issue through
responsible waste practices.
