Installing the HRS Petrel Data Plugin 2
If your plugin does not match the version of Petrel that you are using for your project, please do
these steps first:
1. Delete the imported seismic volumes (refer to the “Seismic volumes imported using old
plugin” section, page 6)
2. Uninstall the plugin (refer to the “Uninstalling old Petrel Plugins”, page 7)
We have separate Petrel pip files for Petrel 2018 to 2020. There are no pip file for versions that
we no longer support such as Petrel 2014. The pip files are located in C:\Program Files
(x86)\CGG GeoSoftware\HRS 10.6\PetrelIntegration\.
To install the HRS Petrel Data Plugin, you must have administrative rights to access the
C:\Program Files\Schlumberger\[your Petrel version]\Extensions directory. An example of [your Petrel
version] is Petrel 2019. If your administrator installs it for you, they need to install it using your user
name and credentials (after permitting your user name to access that directory) or install it for all users.
Click the Install plug-in button and locate the plugin file in C:\Program Files (x86)\CGG
GeoSoftware\HRS 10.6\PetrelIntegration\.
Select the plugin file and click Open to begin the installation process.
Note: The plugin will not install completely until Petrel is closed and reopened.
Verify that the plugin has been installed by reopening the Plugin Manager. Look for Geoview
Petrel Plugin in the list of installed plugins.
Open Petrel. If Petrel is not open, a warning message will open when you try to delete the
volumes.
Uninstall the old Petrel plugin (steps are on the next page).
