041 BASIC MATHEMATICS


TIME: 3 HOURS 01 Aug 2023

INSTRUCTIONS
1. This paper consists of Sections A and B with a total of 14 questions, Answer
ALL questions in BOTH Sections
2. Each questions in Section A carries SIX (06) marks while each question in
Section B carries TEN (10) marks
3. ALL necessary working and answer for each question must be shown clearly
4. NECTA Mathematical tables and non programmable calculators may be used
5. ALL communication devices and any un authorized materials are not allowed in
examination room
6. Write your examination number on every page of your answer
booklet(s)/sheet(s)

SECTION A (60 Marks)

8. (a) A CORONA patient is increasing at 20% per day. If it start with 50
patient at Makambako District. What will be after 25 days?

11. (a) Find the central angle (in degree) made by an arc of length 22cm in a
circle whose radius 63cm.

(b) The number of patients who attend maternity clinic daily in June 2023
in Makonde village was recorded as follows:-

12. (a) VABCD is a pyramid with VA = VB = VC = VD = 5cm and ABCD is


a square base of sides 4cm each. Assume that the centre of the base is

13. (a) A woman owns 60 domestic animals. Each of her domestic animals is
either a cow or a chicken. If the domestic animals have the total of
200 legs, use matrix method to find the number of cows and the
number of chicken which the woman owns.

another rotation of 180 anticlockwise.
