Question 1 (10 marks)


Neglecting losses, find the discharge through the venturimeter illustrated in the Figure
below.

Question 2 (15 marks)

The pipe bend shown in the Figure below is in a horizontal plane. A fluid of weight density
8.615 kN/m3 enters the bend with a velocity of 3.50 m/s and a pressure of 280 kPa.
Neglecting any energy losses in the bend, find the force required to hold the bend in place.
