SCIENCE EDUCATION
IN THE PHILIPPINES
(Written by M.E. Rabino, Oct. 8, 2014 with
modification)

Among the subjects being taught in elementary and

high school science, the most logical anchor for
environmental education is science. But the
Philippines has suffered in this aspect. The
Philippines ranked poor in terms of Science and
Mathematics.
SELECTED INDIGENOUS
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
In the Philippines, there are many indigenous
people, and this include the Ifugaos of Cordillera
Region. The Ifugaos continued to thrive in their
relatively remote yet self-sufficient communities.
Notwithstanding the transformation of many
indigenous knowledge systems in science and
technology, practices that help promote forest
sustainability have remained intact.
