Assignment – 1

Problem Statement:

This project aims to develop a robust and secure Electronic Health Record (HER) system. An Electronic Health
Record system is a digital version of a patient's paper chart. It contains the medical history, diagnoses,
medications, treatment plans, and other important health information, enhancing the quality of care and efficiency
in healthcare. The project will incorporate features such as patient registration, appointment scheduling, medical
records management, and secure communication channels for healthcare professionals.

Empathy Brainstorming Ideation:

1. Patient Experience: Conduct interviews and surveys with patients to identify their pain points in
accessing and understanding their medical records.

2. Healthcare Provider Experience: Interview healthcare providers to gather insights into their
challenges in managing patient records. Assess their needs for efficient data entry, retrieval, and
sharing.

3. Regulatory Compliance: Understand the specific regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR)
that EHR systems must adhere to.

4. Patient-Centric Design: Understand the varying levels of technological proficiency among

patients. Design the EHR system with a focus on user-friendliness and accessibility.

5. Healthcare Provider Efficiency: Assess the workflows of healthcare providers and

identify areas where the EHR system could improve efficiency. Design features that
streamline tasks such as data entry, documentation, and communication.

6. Privacy and Security Concerns : Brainstorm potential privacy concerns related to storing and
sharing sensitive patient data. Develop strategies to protect patient data from unauthorized access,
breaches, and misuse.

Goal Statement:
Our goal is to develop a comprehensive and user-friendly Electronic Health Record (EHR) system that
empowers patients and healthcare providers to manage health information efficiently and securely. By
addressing the needs of diverse stakeholders, including patients, healthcare providers, and organizations,
we aim to create a system that improves the quality of care, enhances patient engagement, and supports
regulatory compliance.

Conclusion: We will develop this EHR system to be accessible, intuitive and efficient,
While keeping privacy and security concerns in mind.

Assignment – 3

Stakeholders :
1. Patients: Elderly individuals, busy professionals, students, and others who may struggle with
memory or need assistance with daily tasks.

2. Healthcare Providers: Doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who rely on accurate and
easily accessible patient records.

3. Healthcare Organizations: Hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare institutions that need efficient
and secure EHR systems.

4. Developers: Software engineers and designers responsible for creating the EHR system.

5. Legal and Privacy Experts: Professionals who can provide guidance on compliance with privacy
laws and data security.

Problems:
1. Difficulty accessing and understanding medical records: Patients may struggle to obtain copies of
their records, understand medical terminology, or find the information they need.
2. Inaccurate or incomplete records: Errors in patient records can lead to misdiagnoses, incorrect
treatments, and adverse health outcomes.
3. Limited access to patient information: Healthcare providers may not have access to all relevant patient
data at the point of care, leading to suboptimal decision-making.

Opportunities:
1. Enhanced decision-making: EHRs provide healthcare providers with access to comprehensive patient information,
enabling them to make more informed decisions about diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
2. Streamlined workflows: EHRs can automate administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, generating
prescriptions, and billing, freeing up healthcare providers to focus on patient care.
3. Improved communication: EHRs can facilitate communication between healthcare providers, patients, and other
stakeholders, improving coordination of care.
4. Enhanced data management: EHRs can help healthcare organizations manage large amounts of patient data
efficiently and securely.

5. Increased patient engagement: EHRs can empower patients to take a more active role in their healthcare by
providing access to their medical records and facilitating communication with their providers.
6. Improved access to care: EHRs can improve access to care by enabling patients to schedule appointments online,
refill prescriptions, and communicate with their providers remotely.
7. Data-driven research: EHRs can be used to conduct research on disease trends, treatment effectiveness, and
population health outcomes.
8. Public health initiatives: EHRs can support public health initiatives by tracking disease outbreaks, monitoring
immunization rates, and identifying at-risk populations.
9. Reduced costs: EHRs can help reduce healthcare costs by improving efficiency, reducing medical errors, and
preventing unnecessary procedures.

Questionnaires:
