CURRICULUM AND ASSESSMENT

BPED-3B PROF. SIR. JAYMARK D. SINAG

INSTRUCTION:
EXPERIENCE: Using the DepEd Curriculum Guide in PE and Health, search for three
standards and state how the game can teach the curriculum standard.

STANDARD 1: Demonstrates and understanding of principles of training in relation to the

components of fitness
USE OF THE GAME: Board gains
This game incorporates various physical challenges that target different components of
fitness. For instances students might participate in jumping jacks to improve
cardiovascular endurance, push ups to enhance muscular strength, and stretching
exercise to increase flexibility. By engaging in these challenges, students gain a practical
understanding of how different activities contribute to overall fitness.

STANDARD 2: Demonstrates understanding of the principles of movement and how they

apply to different sports and physical activities.
USE OF THE GAME: Tag
This classic game involves running, dodging, and chasing which helps students develop
coordination, agility, spatial awareness. BY participating in tag, students will learn how to
move their bodies effectively in different directions a real quick to changing situations.

STANDARD 3: Applies the principles in safety in performing different physical activities.

USE OF THE GAME: Modified Basketball
Teachers can modify the game by reducing the court size, lowering the net, and using a
soft ball. This modification ensures a safer environment for all students, especially to
those who may be less skilled or have physical limitations. By playing modified
basketball, students learn the importance of adjusting activities to suit individual
abilities and minimizing the risk of injuries.
ASSESS: Answer the question below.
What do you think is the importance of using games in teaching physical education and
health?
What are the reasons for your answers?
For me it is essential for us in using games when teaching in PE and health as future
educators because it increases engagement and motivation to the students by capturing
their attention and at the same time make learning more fun. And most importantly
they develop team work and social skills because when they engaged in a game they can
build collaboration, communication, and coordination that providing opportunities for
the student to develop their social skills.
Engaging in games as a student is a tool for teaching in PE and health because it fosters
positive learning environment between students and teachers. By incorporating games
teacher can create engaging and effective lessons that promotes physical cognitive and
social development.

CHALLENGE: Create an original activity for physical education and health that uses the
game as a strategy.
