INSTRUCTION
 Use also the official acronym for the bibliography.
 Look for titles and write immediately the bibliography entry or
list.
 When writing, convert the bibliography entry to footnote.
 Bibliography: start with family name, period, and references.
 Footnote: start with first name, uses comma, publication, and
page.
USAGES
 Citations from Scriptures, regardless of the paraphrasing of
thought, should not be placed in footnotes but after the text
(the same with APA Style).
 Italicize any text which is foreign, titles of books (the same is
applied to bibliography.)
 The title of the Journal is the title of the book.
 As much as possible, don’t use italicized, underlined, and
capitalized text.
 Quotation marks are applied for essays, speeches, and others
which is not a book or journal. Also to three lines taken. More
than it should use block quotation with a single-spaced
paragraph.
 Always begin with a capital.
 The dot must be between the last text and the number. For a
further text add 2 periods.
 Ellipsis: cutting of sentence
 Em-dash is the use of two dashes.
 Choose words the produces images.
 2 tabs to distinguish the quotation from the rest of the
sentences of the paragraph for safety purposes to avoid
discrepancy during adding more ideas in making the paper.
 The simpler the text the better.
THOUGHT DEVELOPMENT - HEADING STYLES

 In the table of contents, stop using numbering.


 Maximizing the space using the Heading Styles.
o Subtitles will just be indented from the Headings.
 But in the paper, it must not be indented.
o HS4 – bold
o HS5 – bold and italicized

EVALUATE AND SELECT SOURCES

 Critical Reading of Sources and Writing of Literature Reviews


o Identify the main problem the author intend to discuss or
resolve:
 Determine the author’s main thesis and supporting
arguments
 Articulate the author’s key concept and how these are
defined
 Identify the thought development of the author
o Identify the key theories, models, and methods.
 What established framework or innovative approach the
author uses
o Identify the key insights and arguments; and its contribution to
your research
o Identify the strengths and weaknesses of the article
o Take notes and cite your sources
 Distinguish what is verbatim from paraphrased
 Cite your sources according to RST Manual on Style
o Tabulate it if possible:
