Section – B (08 – 13, 25 – 30, 42 – 47): This section contains EIGHTEEN (18) numerical based questions.
The answer to each question is a NON-NEGATIVE INTEGER VALUE.
Section – C (14 –17, 31 – 34, 48 – 51): This section contains SIX (06) paragraphs. Based on each
paragraph, there are TWO (02) questions of numerical answer type. The answer to each question is a
NUMERICAL VALUE (XXXXX.XX). If the numerical value has more than two decimal places,

Section – A (Single Correct): Answer to each question will be evaluated according to the following marking scheme:
Full Marks : +3 If ONLY the correct option is chosen.
Zero Marks : 0 If none of the options is chosen (i.e. the question is unanswered);
Negative Marks : –1 In all other cases.
Section – A (One or More than One Correct): Answer to each question will be evaluated according to the following
marking scheme:
Full Marks : +4 If only (all) the correct option(s) is (are) chosen;

8. A steel wire of length 1m, mass 0.1 kg and uniform cross-section 1 mm2 is fixed rigidly at both
ends that there is no tension in the wire initially. The temperature of the wire is lowered by 20°C
and vibrations are set up in the wire such that three antinodes are formed between the ends. An
observer moving at 70 m/s towards the wire observes the frequency of emitted sound to be 40
Hz. If Young's modulus of steel is n × 1011 N/m2, then nearest integer of n will be ____. Given that
the coefficient of linear expansion of steel = 1.21 x 105 K1 and the velocity of and velocity of

9. Given graph is vs velocity graph. If the time interval

10. In a soap film experiment an originally semicircle shaped thread


of radius 10 cm can be deformed to two semicircles with a force
of 0.01 N exerted at the middle of the thread. Calculate the
surface tension (in 10-2 N/m).

11. Two blocks of masses m1 = 1 kg and m2 = 2 kg are


connected by a spring of constant k = 100 N/m and
placed over a plank as shown. The coefficient of friction
between m2 and plank is 0.5 and there is no friction
between m1 and plank. Initially the whole system is at
rest. The plank is now pulled to right with constant
acceleration a = 2 m/s2. Find the amplitude (in cm) of
oscillation of block m1 relative to plank.

A metal block is placed in a room which is at 10°C for long time. Now it is heated by an electric
heater of power 500 W till its temperature becomes 50°C. Its initial rate of rise of temperature is
2.5°C/sec. The heater is switched off and now a heater of 100W is required to maintain the
temperature of the block at 50°C. (Assume Newtons Law of cooling to be valid)

A small ball of mass 1 kg is kept in circular path of radius 1m in fixed


concentric smooth horizontal ring of radius R. Angular speed of the ball in
the circular motion is 1 rad/s. At a certain moment the string, which kept
