2. Course information
Units of credit: 3 credits
Pre-requisite(s): The students should be studying this course in the 3rd
semester in order to understand the concept of Advance Graphics and 2D
Animation. Demonstration of the software, its tools and its various uses
in different animation techniques will be taught.
Co-requisite(s) (if any): Workshop/Guest Lectures, Assignments, Projects & Viva

Teaching times and locations: 3 credits, 2 lecture, and 2 practicals,


consisting of 4 hours in a week. Location Block 4, First Floor.

2.1 Course summary


The course will focus on the significance of 2D animation principles. As a
part of the content delivery, the course would provide knowledge on the
multimedia software’s and its applications required for animation. The
Course would also explain the professional skills needed to become
successful in the industry and would make the students more compatible
with the applications.

2.2 Course aims


The aim of the course is to provide an understanding about the meaning,
roles and functions and principles of animation and its application taking
into consideration the growing demand in the digital era. The overall aim
of this course is to enable you to explore the ideas of Advance Graphics
and 2D Animation using various designing software’s available in the
market.

2.3 Course Outcomes (CO)


At the successful completion of this course you (the student) should be able to:
1. To comprehend and demonstrate themselves in any organization or individually
with 2D animation skills.
2. Identify the Essential Skills that an independent 2D animator should have.
3. Possesses the Skills of a professional 2D animator and able to cope with any basic
2D animation.
4. Develop a project that is best for job opportunities.

3. Strategies and approaches to learning

3.1 Learning and teaching activities


The course would give you an opportunity to understand 2D animation and its various
applications, which would make animation process easy. As a part of the course
delivery, you would be doing various 2D animation multimedia projects in the class
which would enhance your animation abilities. The teaching pattern of the course would
involve multi-media method with an equal emphasis given to delivery of theoretical
knowledge as well as sufficient number of practical sessions.

3.2 Expectations of students
The Teaching Pedagogy of 2D animation would be lectures, tutorial and practical.
Assessment component would be technical and practical.

An integral part of this course is consistent engagement in practical activities as


well as the class lecture component. You may fail the course if you do not attend
regularly, even if you complete all assignments. You must actively participate in
classes and online group work and complete all set work to a professional
standard as discussed in class and in the course profile.
Teaching Pedagogy would include just not imparting lectures but a combination
of various methods where you have to be actively involved. Assessment
component would just not be assignments but a mixture of various class
activities and various animation based practical projects which would require
you to be very attentive in the class and grasp the various conceptual creativity.
Home based assignments would also include such tasks which would require
you to be very regular in class in order to understand the technicalities of the
subject related concepts and implement them in the assignments. You have to
strictly adhere to the deadline given to you regarding the submission of
evaluative components and complete them to the best of your efforts as per the
instructions given to you in the class as well as the course profile.

additional 2 hours of non class contact hours to complete assessments, readings and

5.1 Assessment tasks
 Students will create small car animation with proper background. ( In the 4th week
from the proposed date) marks 7 Assesment criteria as per the proposed guidelines

 Student will create two animations on social awareness. (In the 7th week on proposed
date) marks 8 Assessment criteria as per the proposed guidelines on Amizone.
 Student will prepare an attractive story animation with their own story and drawn
characters.

1. Students have to submit the Assignments in drawing, video and in a
CD which includes all supporting files of projects.
2. Assignments should be related to the chosen topics.
3. Assignments should give full information on the Topic along with a

5.3 Submission of assessment tasks

5.4. Feedback on assessment


 Students would be guided and given regular feedback during the
process of doing their Assignments or going for Field Work. Faculty
would guide the students regarding how to conduct their field
work.
 Each Assignment would be discussed in the class along with the
marks secured in them and the mistakes committed in them so that
the students can avoid them in future. Presentations would be
followed by Q&A sessions giving feedback to the presenters along
with faculty remarks regarding the areas of improvement.

 Assessment works consisting of Assignments & Presentations along


with their Guidelines and Assessment Criteria will be uploaded on
Amizone so that the students can be briefed in advance regarding
how to proceed with them. Students can also view the feedback of
the faculty concerned as well as the marks secured in the
assignments on amizone.
