Principles of Foretelling / Forecasting

At the outset it is a must to ascertain whether native’s horoscope

was made on the basis of correct time to birth or not. If there is
uncertainty with regard to date and time of birth then horoscope made
on that basis cannot be correct. Once it is sure that there is no
discrepancy in date, time and place then one can read the horoscope.

1. Position of Ascendant
The first aspect to be studied in a horoscope is the ascendant,
i.e. in which zodiac sign the ascendant has risen. Thereafter, knowing
the position of lord of ascendant is very important. In other words it
is imperative to know in which house and in which zodiac sign the
lord of ascendant is positioned. Study of the auspicious and
inauspicious planets affecting the Lord of ascendant, its combination
with other planets, etc. is equally important.

In the first example ascendant has Libra zodiac sign. Lord of

Libra is Venus. Position of Venus in the horoscope gives us an idea
of native’s health, personality, life’s direction etc. Here, lord of
ascendant is in the Capricorn zodiac sign, which is friendly. Similarly,
Moon and Jupiter are casting benefic glances on Venus, which gives
it additional power and lustre. Venus is situated at 17 and hence is
powerful as well as in its young age. As such in this particular
horoscope lord of ascendant is powerful.

Example : 2
In the horoscope given in the second example ascendant is
rising in Leo zodiac sign. Lord of Leo zodiac sign is Sun. Sun is
situated in ascendant itself. In other words Sun is stationed in the
ascendant Leo, which is its own zodiac sign. Saturn and Mars are
casting their glances on sun. Sun in the ascendant is of 5, which is its
childhood state. Sun is situated with planet Mercury. Thus

inspite of Sun being in its own zodiac sign, it is not very powerful
because cruel planets are weakening it and it is in its childhood.

2. Zodiac and its position

After ascertaining the position of the Lord of ascendant, native’s
zodiac sign should be found out. In the horoscope the place where
Moon is situated that position is the birth zodiac of the native. After
ascertaining the zodiac sign, the next step is to know the position of
Lord of zodiac. Situation of the Lord of zodiac sign, its status, its
combination with other plants and sight of other planets on it are to be
studied next. If the lord of moon sign is auspicious, it combines well
with other planets, is in young state or is situated in its own or exalted
zodiac sign then it is powerful. Likewise, if lord of zodiac sign is situated
in combination with malefic or cruel planets or if these planets are
casting their glance on the lord of zodiac sign then it is weak.

In example 1, Moon is situated Cancer zodiac sign which is its

own sign. It has combination with Jupiter which is auspicious. Seventh
sight of Venus is also auspicious but Saturn’s third sight on Moon
creates a bad effect. Moon is situated in 10 at cancer zodiac sign. It
being its old position is good state. Thus except the effect of Saturn,
position of moon is strong.

In this example Moon is situated in Aries zodiac sign. So the

native in this instance is born in Aries zodiac sign whose Lord is
Mars. Mars is situated in the fourth house in Scorpio zodiac sign.
Scorpio zodiac sign is own sign of Mars. Rahu’s seventh, Saturn’s
tenth and Jupiter’s fifth vision are falling on Mars . Mars is of 15
and thus has young age and hence it is powerful . On this basis
Mars is powerful by its position in own sign. Glance of Jupiter on
Mars is also auspicious, but glances of evil planets like Rahu and
Saturn provide inauspiciousness to Mars.

3. House and position of the lord of the house

After the study of Lord of ascendant, zodiac sign and Lord of
zodiac sign the next factor is the study of individual house ascendant.
Lord of the house means the master of the sign that is present in a
house. While studying a particular house or any incident related to
the house, one has to study the zodiac sign present therein and the
position of the lord of that sign in the horoscope.

In example 1 of the horoscope, suppose information pertaining

to the native’s marriage or his relations with his wife is to be known,
then seventh house is to be studied because this house gives the
desired information about the native’s wife. In the example, Aries
zodiac sign is in the seventh house and its lord is Mars. Mars is in the
eleventh house, i.e., it is situated in Leo zodiac sign which is study of
friendly sign of Mars. Sun and Mercury are also looking at Mars.
Thus by seventh house and the lord of seventh house i.e. in this

example, Mars information about marriage and nature of the native’s

wife can be known.

In this example, if the native’s profession or occupation is to be

known then study of tenth house should be done. Tenth house
affects native’s occupation, then in the example, Taurus zodiac sign
is situated in tenth house Lord of Taurus zodiac Sign is Venus. Ve-
nus in this horoscope is in the second house and in Virgo zodiac
sign which is its friendly zodiac sign. By studying their mutual rela-
tion, one can find out the area of occupation of the native.

Thus, horoscope must be studied in the following order.

1. Ascendant 2. Lord of Ascendant

3. Zodiac sign 4. Lord of zodiac sign

5. House 6. Lord of that house

OTHER RULES

Effect of situation of zodiac should be known on the basis of

planets in their exalted self friend, neutral, enemy and debilitated status
of the zodiac sign. In exalted zodiac sign, the planet is very powerful.
In its own zodiac sign it is strong less powerful as compared to
exalted position and in friendly sign, planet is powerful but to a lesser
effect than that of own sign. In neutral zodiac sign, planet has neutral
power. In enemy sign planet gives inauspicious results. In debilitated
sign, planet is very weak and give extremely malefic results.
In a horoscope every planet, its house as well as its mutual
aspect and relationships with other planets should be studied. Sight
of auspicious planets is auspicious and that of evil planets gives
inauspicious results. While the sight of Jupiter is like rain of nectar
and the sight of Saturn is very painful to the native and gives very
inauspicious results.
Properties and attributes of planets and those of zodiac must
also be considered.
Rise and combustion of planets should also be considered.
Planet that is combusted is weak. Only Mercury gives auspicious
result even when it is combusted.
Subjects related to different house are also to be considered
and predictions must be based on the houses.

Various situations of the planets and their effect also ought to

be considered.
Effect of planet on various zodiac sign also should be known,
like for example e.g. effect of sun in the Leo or effect of Mercury in
Cancer should be known.

Next requirement is knowledge of various zodiac sign in differ-

ent house. For example if Taurus is in the tenth house, the native will
be industrious like a bull.

Effect of each planet according to houses must also be known.

Results of the lord of zodiac sign situated in various houses in
various zodiac sign should be studied thoroughly. For example if the

Lord of ascendant is in the eleventh house, then the effect of the

same should be predicted. Similarly the effect of lord of tenth house
situated in the fourth house must be studied.
Forecast must be made according to the mutual relations of
planets.

Predictions also depends on the basis of the aspects of the planets

among themselves. Thus ascertaining the effect of each planet’s vision on
particular house and other should be studied before predictions.
Next point is the result of more than one planet in a house. This
situation must also be considered.
The various special yoga like Papkartari yoga, (that which
prompts a native to sin) Alpayu yoga (that which shortens the life –
span) Dirghaya yoga (that which shows longevity), Raj yoga (that
which suggests royal life style ), Rajdanda yoga (that which suggests
punishment by the state ), Dhana yoga (that which indicated wealth ),
Daridrya yoga (that which suggests poverty) etc. should be carefully
studied before predicting.

The solstice season, month, dark or bright half of the month, etc.
at the time of birth of native must also be kept in mind while predicting.
Forecasting ought to be based on the lunar zodiac sign
constellation and the phase of that constellation.
Another important factor is the circumstances or Dasha in the
horoscope i.e. whether it is Maha Dasha, Pratyantar Dasha,
Antardasha, Sukshma Dasha etc. This must also be used while making
predictions.

Predictions bases on various Houses

One should consider the respective house for predicting about
a particular aspect of the native. For example, if position or status
child is to be considered then consideration of the fifth house is
important. Apart from the fifth house , the other concerned houses
which are related to it must also be taken into consideration.

For doing predictions on various aspect first of all position of

the lord of that house must be seen :
1. Whether Lord of that house is benefic or an evil planet.
2. Lord of that house is retrograding or on its path.
3. Consideration of the strength of the Lord of that house
based on its degrees should also be known.
4. Consideration of zodiac sign in which a planet is situated
must also be studied. Whether the zodiac sign is planet ‘s
exalted, own, friendly, neutral, enemy or debilitated.

5. Whether planet is risen or set should also be known. Planets

that are combusted does not give full result.
6. Different stages of the lord of the house must be
considered. That is whether the planet is infant, young ,old ,etc.
7. Effect of the conjunction of planets. The combined effect
of these planets should be known and predictions based on these
should be done in the given example, Lord of seventh house Venus

is situated with Mercury. Similarly Lord of tenth house Saturn is

situated in its own Capricorn sign is tenth house with moon.

Effect of vision or union of benefic planets with planets of a
house should be studied. Similarly effect of vision or union with ma-
lefic planets of planet that is lord of house should also be studied. In
the given example, Jupiter is situated in ascendant and is seen by Venus
similarly, full vision of Jupiter falls on Venus. Mars is situated in third
house and is seen by Saturn who is situated in ninth house. Vision of
Saturn on Mars is malefic whereas on one side vision of Mars on
Saturn is malefic but ninth vision of Jupiter on Saturn is benefic.Mars'
eighth full vision also falls on Mercury situated in tenth house.

9. Effect of vision of planet who is friend is beneficial.

Their combination is also good. Similarly effect of planet who has
enmity with the lord of a house is not auspicious.
10. If the planet is situated in center position, triangle, etc.
places then it is auspicious. However its position in sixth, eight or
twelfth house is inauspicious.
11. If the planet is situated with lord of center house or
triangle then it is auspicious. However, if the planet is
situated with lord of sixth, eight or twelfth house then it
is inauspicious.
For reading a horoscope following points need to be studied
for predictions.
1. Strength of the house.
2. Planets present in the house.
3. Position of auspicious or inauspicious planet in the house.
4. Presence of lord of ascendant in the house.
5. if any planet is present in a house then consideration of its
strength or weakness, its attributes or vices etc. should be
studied.
6. Consideration of the presence of planet, in center, triangle,
sixth, eighth or twelfth house and the lord of those places.
7. The planets that vision on a house and the nature of the
planet that is viewing a house should also be studied.

8. Combination of many planets in the house should also be

studied.
9. If a house is seen by its own lord then effect of this
phenomenon should also be studied.
10. Planets situated in a house and their mutual combination
(Yoga) should be studied for predictions.
11. Change or transformation of the Lord of the house. In the
given example, lord of fifth house Jupiter is situated in ninth house
while lord of ninth house moon is situated in fifth house. This is
mutual change-over Yoga. Due to this Jupiter and Moon have become
major causative planets of this horoscope.

12. Situation of causative factor of the house should be

known. Like for example, causative factor of ascendant is Sun. Caus-
ative factor of fifth house is Jupiter. Causative factor of seventh house
is Venus.

Planets situated in its own zodiac sign increases the benefic

effect. Though, its result are a bit less than that of exalted state. Eg.
Moon in cancer sign.

result but it is somewhat less than that of its situation in own sign.

Vision of planet or in combination with an exalted or friendly

planet is auspicious. For example Venus in Pisces is in exalted state.
If it is in the fourth house with Mercury then Mercury will give better
result or if mercury is present in the fourth house and its friend
Venus is looking at it from the tenth house then also the positive
result of Mercury will enhance.

When an auspicious is debilitated or situated in enemy sign or is
combusted then gives malefic result. Eg. Jupiter debilitated in
Capricorn or in enemy sign in conjunction with Sun and gets
combustded will give inauspicious results

If an evil planet is situated in debilitated sign then it neutralizes

all the auspicious result. Eg Mars in Cancer sign reduces all the
related auspicious result.

Planets that are set are not auspicious and gives bad results.
If auspicious planet is retrograding then the result are even better.
If evil planet is retrograding then the result is inauspicious.
Planet situated in combination with evil planet gives malefic re-
sult. Eg. Mercury in fourth house in Scorpio sign situated in union
with evil planet Rahu reduced the positive result of Mercury.

Auspicious planet in auspicious or inauspicious situation will

enhance the auspicious or inauspicious effects respectively.

Ascendant, fourth, fifth, ninth, tenth and eleventh houses are

auspicious places. Second and seventh house are Causative factors
of death whereas sixth, eight and twelfth house are extremely inaus-
picious. Third is neutral house i.e. neither auspicious nor inauspi-
cious. Evil planets reduce the effect of both good and bad result.
Hence auspicious planets gives benefic result in auspicious places.
Similarly evil planets reduced the bad effects or gives good results
in malefic places.

Planets increases the strength of a house to which it sees. If the

lord of a house looks at its own house, then the result will be benefic.
Eg. Venus in eleventh house looking at its on zodiac (in the case Taurus)
with full sight then the result of the fifth house will be good.

Evil planet in center houses gives benefic results. Eg. Sun is a

Lord of third, second, sixth, seventh, eighth or eleventh houses

gives inauspicious results.

Planets which are mutually in second and twelfth or sixth and

eighth houses produce malefic results. For instance if Sun is twelfth
from Mars and Mars is second from Sun then they mutually give
inauspicious results.

Similarly if Sun is present in Sixth House from its own Leo sign
and Leo zodiac is eighth from Sun then the native will not get full
auspicious effects of Leo.

If evil planet is present in a house and sight of auspicious planet

falls on that house then the good results of the house increases.

it then the results would be malefic. Eg. If Saturn is in the fourth
house and Sun is seeing at it then this is not a auspicious situation.

If auspicious and inauspicious both planets are present in a

house then the effects will be mixed and if good and bad planets are
looking at a house then mixed results are expected.

When a house has an auspicious planet or is seen by Lord of

the house or auspicious planet then the results will be good . In other
words, due to presence of evil planet or their vision on a house gives
malefic results instead of benefic. Similarly evil planet gives auspi-
cious results when seen by auspicious planets.

The positive effects of a house will be obtained if the house is

seen by its lord or benefic planet and not by any malefic or evil
planet. Similarly, the negative results of a house is obtained if it is
seen by evil or cruel planets and not by any benefic planets. If in a
house, any planet other than benefic results are not obtained. If evil
planet is situated in enemy or debilitated sign or is set then it com-
pletely finishes the positive results of that house.

The house in which Lord of ascendant is present certainly gives

benefic results.

To know the effects of a house, first of all results the position

Lord of that house should be known, because he is the master of that
house and other planets staying in the house all like a tenant. So the
auspicious planet sitting in a house certainly gives it external shine
but if the Lord of the house is itself not good, then there is problem
in getting desired results of that house.

Results of a house increases when Lord of Ascendant sits in

conjunction with Lord of a house but if the Lord of ascendant is with
Lord of the eighth house then it reduces the good effects of that
house. House in which the Lord of ascendant is present or is in
conjunction with the lord of a house then it gives that results. But, if
the Lord of a house is strong the results will be desirable, if it is weak
results will be painful.

there is a evil planet and on its other side there is a benefic planet then
mixed results will occur. If there are auspicious planets on both sides,
of a house or planet then results would be excellent. Similarly if on
both the sides there are evil planets, the results are sure to be bad.
For example Lord of the third house has Mars in the second house
on one side and Saturn in the fourth house on the other side, then this
is unfavorable situation.
Suppose Jupiter in the second house and Venus is in the fourth
house, then the results would be good because the house is encircled by
auspicious planets. Again if Saturn is in the second and Jupiter in the
