Hello everybody! This is the story of the ant and the grasshopper. This is Mister Ant and this is
Mister Grasshopper.
Once upon a time, at the edge of a field, there lived an ant and a grasshopper. The ant
was a hard worker. Each sunny morning, he woke up early to gather food. However, the
grasshopper was very lazy. He liked to sleep until late in the morning. Then he would spend his
One day, the grasshopper was hopping, dancing and singing when he met the
hardworking ant. The grasshopper watched the ant work and spoke. “I have been watching
you!” the grasshopper said. “Why don’t you come and have a good time with me? We can sing
“Now is not the time to play,” the ant replied. “Rainy days is coming soon. I am gathering
food for the rainy days, and you should do the same!!”
"Hahaha…Why bother about the rainy days?" said the Grasshopper; "We have plenty of
food at present. I am not going to worry about rainy days yet. It is such a beautiful day! Are you
sure you want to spend it working?” “I can enjoy the day while I work,” said the ant. He left the
As summer turned to fall, the air got cooler. “Rainy days will be here before I know it!”
thought the ant. So he worked even harder than he did before. The grasshopper kept on singing
and dancing. “You are so boring!” he said to the ant. “Won’t you come and dance with me?”
“You would do well to stop dancing and start gathering some food for yourself!” said the
ant. “Can’t you see that rainy days is coming soon? What will you do when there is no food to
the clever one because I’m having fun. All he does is work! How very dull, indeed!” The
grasshopper continued to dance and sing as the leaves fell from the trees.
One week later, the rainy days came. The ant was in his home, feeling warm and cozy.
He put his feet up and made himself comfortable. “I can relax now because I have plenty of food
for the long, cold rainy days,” he thought with a smile. The grasshopper was sitting beneath a
bare tree. He was shivering and hungry, but there was no food to be found. “What shall I do?
This is no fun at all!” So the grasshopper went to the ant’s house and knocked at his door. “Hello,
my good friend!” he said to the ant. “I am very cold and hungry, and there is no food to be found.
Will you give me something to eat?” The ant looked at the grasshopper and invited grasshopper
into his house. Ant gave Grasshopper something to eat. Now, the grasshopper had learnt a lesson.
He knew what he needed to do next time. “Next time, I will put away something before the cold
comes,” Grasshopper said. “That will be good,” Ant said. Moral values: It is better to plan for the
future. There is time to play and there is time to work. THE END!
