Precautions
Security Measures
• Before operating or maintaining the DG, get familiar with the installation manual and master the operation
requirements for the DG components.
• When starting the DG and maintaining the engine, generator, and apparatuses and devices installed on the
DG, read and follow instructions in maintenance manuals and user manuals provided by manufacturers, and
other maintenance manuals delivered with the DG.
• Before performing the operation and maintenance steps not specified in this document or related documents,
contact Huawei for permission. Otherwise, unexpected personal injury or equipment damage may be caused.
• Keep sparks, fire, and flammable objects away from the DG.
• When you are performing maintenance near the engine or a rotating component, take off your ID card and tie
your hair and put them in your hat to protect them from being twisted into high-speed moving components
(such as a fan or drive bearing), avoiding personal injury or death.
Safety Regulations
To ensure safe and reliable operating of equipment, properly maintain and service equipment. The only way to
avoid personal injury and damage to equipment is strictly following operation rules and safety regulations.
Electrical Safety
• Ground the DG properly. Lock all electric panels. Use insulated tools to check and repair electric devices.
Avoid electric shocks in wet environments.
• Follow all electrical regulations. Only qualified personnel are allowed to install, check, and repair electric
parts of equipment.
Operating Safety
• Do not use the DG in places with explosives.
• Do not get close to the running DG. Loose clothes, hair, and falling tools may cause serious personal
injury and damage to equipment.
• For a running DG, its exposed pipes and components are at high temperatures. Avoid touching them to
prevent burns.
Fire Prevention
• Metal objects can result in short circuits, which may cause fire.
• Keep the engine clean because excessive oil stains may cause engine overheated, which leads to fire and
damage to equipment.
• Place multiple dry powder or CO2 fire extinguishers besides the DG.

NOTICE: •Do not add or drain coolant, engine oil, or fuel when the DG is running.
•Do not check the oil level dipstick when the DG is running.

1. Checking the Fuel in the Fuel Tank

Step 1. View the fuel level indicator or on the ECC500 screen of the fuel tank to check
whether the fuel is sufficient.

(1) The fuel level indicator

Figure 1-2Checking the fuel level on the ECC500 screen

• The low fuel level may cause the generator set stopping and trigger the “Underspeed Pro”
alarm.

3
2. Checking the Cable Connection of the Speed Sensor

Step 1. Unplug the speed sensor connector, check the male metal pin and the pinhole of
the connector. If the pin or pinhole is broken, replace the connector

Step 2. Measure whether the resistance between R+ of the speed sensor plug and R+ pin
of the GMU is conductive.

2. Checking the Cable Connection of the Speed Sensor

Step 3. Measure whether the resistance between R- of the speed sensor plug and R- pin
of the GMU is conductive.

• If the resistance is conductive, proceed with the operations described in section 3.

"Checking Speed Sensor.“
• If the resistance is not conductive, replace the plug and connect the cable again.

3. Adjust the Position of the Speed Sensor

Step 1. Stop the generator set. First hold the speed sensor bolt, unscrew the speed sensor
nut, then loosen the speed sensor.

3. Adjust the Position of the Speed Sensor

Step 2. Rotate the speed sensor bolt clockwise slowly and lightly until you can feel the
rotation is blocked, then stopping the rotation.

Step 3. Rotate Make a marker on the speed sensor, rotate the speed sensor counter-
clockwise for 3/4 circle, then hold the speed sensor bolt and screw the speed
sensor nut to tighten the speed sensor.

Start the generator set and check the rotational speed of the engine on the GMU
screen, if the speed is normal, the inspection is over, otherwise, replace the speed
sensor and adjust the position as above steps (Huawei part number: 52261718 /
52261420).

4. Restoring Components of the Generator Set

After troubleshooting is complete, check and restore the components changed or moved
during the troubleshooting process. Ensure that the fuel pipes of the generator set do not
leak, and the cables are not loose or short-circuited. Set the GMU mode to automatic
before leaving the site.
