Broken Bonds

Characters:
-Rosalina (Mother): A hardworking woman, kind-hearted but caught in the conflict
between family and danger.
-Angel (Daughter): Rosalina’s teenage daughter, devastated by her mother’s tragic
death.
-Marialita (Sister): Rosalina’s ambitious sister, involved in a mining business that attracts
trouble.
- Bensing (Holdaper): A ruthless thief who targets Marialita’s mining business and
causes Rosalina’s death.
- Narrator: Guides the audience through the story of betrayal and loss.

Scene 1: The Mining Business

(The stage is set with a modest home on one side and a mining operation on the other.
Rosalina is at home with her daughter, Angel. Teresa, dressed in expensive clothes,
enters.)
Narrator:
In Sta.Irene, Agusan Del Sur, Rosalina and her daughter Angel lived a quiet life. But
Rosalina’s sister, Marialita, ran a mining business—one that attracted danger and
greed. This would soon tear the family apart.
Marialita (proudly):
Rosalina, you should come work for me at the mines. The money is good. You and
Angel could have a better life.
Rosalina (calmly):
I appreciate the offer, Marialita, but I don’t trust the business. It’s dangerous. The people
you’re working with… they’re not good people.
Marialita (defensively):
Danger is part of the deal. This is the mining industry. If you’re too scared, you’ll never
succeed.
Angel (worried):
Mama, I don’t like Aunt Marialita’s work. There are always strange people hanging
around. It doesn’t feel safe.
Rosalina (softly):
I know, Angel. That’s why we’re staying out of it. I don’t want any harm to come to you.
Narrator:
But Rosalina’s desire to protect her family couldn’t stop the wheels of fate. Marialita’s
business had drawn the attention of dangerous criminals, and soon, their lives would
change forever.

Scene 2: The Robbery

(The lights flicker, and a tense atmosphere fills the stage. Bensing, the Holdaper, enters
with a group of thieves. They confront Rosalina at the mining site.)
Narrator:
Marialita’s success had attracted unwanted attention. Bensing, a notorious thief, saw an
opportunity. He didn’t care about family, only profit.
Bensing (coldly):
You’ve made quite the name for yourself, Marialita. All that gold… it belongs to me now.
Marialita (fearfully):
You can’t just take it! I’ll call the authorities!
Bensing (laughing):
The authorities? You think they’ll help you out here in the middle of nowhere? You’re on
your own, lady.
(Rosalina, who had come to the mining site to check on her sister, steps forward.)
Rosalina (bravely):
Marialita just give them what they want. Your life is worth more than this business.
Bensing (noticing Rosalina)
Who’s this? Another piece of the puzzle? Too bad for you, family loyalty doesn’t pay.
(He draws a gun, pointing it threateningly at both sisters.)
Narrator:
In the chaos, Marialita tried to reason with the criminals, but her greed blinded her to the
real danger. Bensing wasn’t just here for gold—he was here to make a statement.
Marialita (desperately):
Rosalina please! I never wanted this to happen! I didn’t know they’d come after me!
Rosalina (calm but scared):
Rosalina, we have to get out of here. Let it go before it’s too late.
(Suddenly, a struggle breaks out. Victor’s gun goes off, and the sound of a gunshot
echoes through the stage. Isabel falls to the ground.)
Angel (off-stage, screaming):
Mama!

Scene 3: The Aftermath

(The stage is dimly lit. Rosalina’s lifeless body is on the ground, and Marialita stands
frozen, shocked. Angel rushes to her mother’s side.)
Narrator:
In a tragic turn of events, Rosalina’s attempt to protect her sister cost her life. The bullet
meant for Marialita found its mark in Rosalina’s heart.
Angel (sobbing):
No, Mama! Please wake up! You can’t leave me! You promised you’d always be here!
Marialita (in shock):
Rosalina… no… this wasn’t supposed to happen. I didn’t mean for this…
Bensing (mocking):
Well, that’s what happens when you play with fire. Sorry, kid, but life goes on. We’ll take
the gold and leave you with the mess.
(Bensing and his men leave, and Marialita collapses beside Rosalina, guilt and grief
overwhelming her.)
Narrator:
The price of Marialita’s ambition had been paid in blood. Rosalina was gone, and
Angel’s world was shattered.

Scene 4: Angel’s Despair

(Angel is sitting alone in her room, holding her mother’s picture. Marialita stands in the
background, silently watching. The stage is filled with a sense of deep sorrow.)
Narrator:
Angel was left to pick up the pieces of her broken heart. Her mother, the one who had
always protected her, was gone, taken by greed and violence.
Angel (whispering to the picture):
Why, Mama? Why did you have to leave me? Why did this happen to us?
Marialita (stepping forward, tearfully):
Angel I’m so sorry. This is all my fault. I never should have involved myself with those
people. I thought I was doing the right thing for our family, but… I was wrong.
Angel (angrily):
You think saying sorry will bring her back? She’s gone because of you! I don’t care
about your business or your money. I just want my mother back!
Marialita (sobbing):
I know… I know, Angel. I don’t expect you to forgive me, but please, let me try to make
things right. I don’t want to lose you, too.

Scene 5: Moving Forward

(The stage is brighter, showing Angel standing at her mother’s grave. Marialita is beside
her, both of them silent but connected by their grief.)
Narrator:
Though Angel’s heart was broken, she knew her mother wouldn’t want her to be
consumed by hatred. She stood at her grave, wondering how to move forward.
Angel (softly):
Mama, I miss you every day. I don’t know how to live without you, but I’ll try. I’ll try to
forgive, because that’s what you would want.
Marialita (humbly):
Angel I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to earn your forgiveness. I don’t deserve it, but
I’ll never stop trying.

Narrator:
In the end, Angel knew that the only way to honor her mother’s memory was to live with
the love and kindness that Rosalina had always shown. Though the road ahead was
painful, it was also a chance for healing.
(The lights fade as Angel and Marialita stand together, not as enemies, but as a family
trying to rebuild what had been lost.)
End.
