Strict Parental Guidance: It’s Effect to the Academic Performance of Student of SPA

Chapter 1: The problem and it’s background

Strict parental guidance deals with control, discipline, and monitoring children by
their parents. It is setting regulation and expectation aiming for shaping children’s behaviour,
choices and also their academic performances. In this study it address a questions regarding
how strict parental guidance affects the academic performance of a student. In exploring the
major role of parental guidance of shaping student for their own success, the parents and
educators are there to develop an effective strategies that support student in their academic
performance and well-being. Parenting also have the potential of offering and promoting
student success by understanding how strict parental guidance influences in the academic
performance of students, contributing to the discussion on the effectiveness of parental
strategies for student achievements.

Research state that the relationship between strict parental guidance and students
academic performance is complex. While on the other hand strict parenting also
characterized in a high control and discipline leading to better academic performances of
student due to clear expectations and structure. But too much strictness or what we called
the authoritarian parenting can cause a negative effects on students academic
performances. So that excessive control without being comfort and support can lead to
stress, pressure, lack of self motivation and self-esteem for the student, eventually it is
impacting their academic success badly and negatively. Therefore, it is important to set
boundaries and providing an emotional support at the same time to foster a positive
environment for the children’s that supports academic achievement and overall well-being
of a students.

Strict parental guidance can cause both positive and negative effect on academic
performance of students. In positive side, it can provide structure and discipline, which can
lead to better study routine, perform time management skills , and academic achievements.
Students, grow up with strict parents may be they are more focused, motivated, and have a
strong work ideals. They may also have a strong bond relationship between their parents.
While in the other hand strict parental can cause high level of stress and anxiety leading to
blackout and stop their ability to perform well in school or in academics. In addition, strict
parenting may limit a child’s free and independence, prevent them from developing
problem-solving skills and self-motivation. Strict parental guidance, mediating effect of child
expectation, this example is to be likely and common in big group of older children. Other
studies have also explored and found the relationship between perceived parental academic
expectation and self-regulated learning. The positive result that recognize between parental
academic expectations and self-regulated learning is stronger for student with low personal
awareness and reflection compared to those with high personal awareness and reflection.

In examining the effects of the strict parental guidance, aiming to contribute


important awareness to the existing literature of parenting styles and student performance
and achievement. By explaining and clarifying terms such as strict parental guidance and
academic performance, it sets the comprehensive exploration of the dynamics between
parenting styles and student success. While recognizing the control and the limitations of
possible prejudice in the details of the studies scope focusing only in the parental guidance,
out looking the emphasize critical role of parental involvement as the key factor of student
academic success. Overall, it is seeking to explain on the impact of strict parental guidance
on student academic performance and provide practical suggestion for supporting students
in a effective educational journey.

This study which is the impact of strict parental guidance on student academic
performance will implement a qualitative inquiry approach. Involving interview’s that
focuses in a group of parents and students to search and seek into their experiences and
perceptions regarding parental guidance and its influence on academic outcomes of
students. Conducted in a educational settings like schools of Saint Philomene of Alcala,
aiming to gather rich and full information on the parental involvement in educational
aspects of students. It will select through purposive sampling, to ensure those student or
parents that with experience in strict parental guidance. Cultural information and
consideration will prioritize in a informed consent, privately for the participant protection,
emphasizing voluntary participation and anonymously to protect and guard their well-being
throughout the research process.

This study will conduct an interviews with both students and parents to gain more
information into their own discrimination and perceptions of the impact of parental
guidance on academic performance of the students of Saint Philomene of Alcala. Ask about
the specific strategies of parents using and how students responded and reacted to
parenting it gives to them. The analysis we plan to conduct is a case study analysis. We will
analyze individual case studies to understand the ways in which strict parental guidance
affects academic performance of the students of SPA. The purpose of our analytical
approach on the effects of strict parenting on the student academic performance is to
understand the individual thoughts and experiences of the students. In order to understand
the impact of strict parental guidance on student academic performance, it is important to
explore why certain event happen. Different parenting styles have also a different impact on
academic performance of student. Understanding the parenting style within a family and its
impact on the student’s motivation, and level of stress can help explain the problem in
academic outcomes. Acception can be assess by using measurement of parenting styles and
examine their union and connectedness with the observed behaviours. To ensure enough
and strong explanation of these variables, it’s essential that to equip and apply a qualitative
analysis style, which cases a study analysis. To form the trustworthiness of our study is to
includes transparency, which means a clear and direct providing of details, to enhance the
credibility of the study.

This study also focuses on the key variables of parental guidance practices and
strategies on the student academic outcomes, defined as the control, discipline, and
monitoring by parents, in the academic achievements of their children like grades and test
scores. Data collection will used involvement of exploring specific strategies and student
responses to the parenting style their have. Emphasizing individual experiences with the
strict parental guidance at Saint Philomene of Alcala. The measurement device, customize in
this study, will undergo reviews, try outs, and participant feedback to ensure validity, while
existing an instruments of validity will be evaluate through literature review and insight with
a study objectives. Reliability for the study sample will be settled through test-retest and
reassessment analysis and consistency assessments to ensure the instruments stability and
consistency for the participants.

This study aims to o investigate how strict parental guidance impacts student
academic performance, providing an acceptable insights of an relationship between
parenting and student success. The main goal for this study is to create a complete and a
clear research paper that can advance the understanding in education of an student
influencing educational rules, policies and practices to enhance the student success. A path
that aiming to reach a various students, promoting and foster informed decision-making and
effective parental involvement strategies in academic performance or education. In this
analysis has revealed that parental expectation and students academic identity , predicting
their child academic achievements. This means that when parent have high expectation at
their children’s academic performance and students nor children’s have a positive mindset
of their own academic abilities they are have more chances to achieve higher academic
outcomes and success. In addition parental achievement, supporting behaviours also
contribute to this case of relationship. Overall, the analysis or study in this diverse topic has
indicated that the relationship between parental expectations and academic achievement is
significant across different age, groups, races, genders and nationalities.
