Polynomials

- as an expression which is composed of variables, constants and exponents, that are combined using
mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division (No division operation
by a variable
- Based on the number of terms present in the expression, it is classified as monomial, binomial, and
trinomial
Degree of a polynomial
- is defined as the highest exponent of a monomial within a polynomial
Term
Coefficient - can be literal or numerical
Like terms - terms that have the same variable and exponent but can have different numerical coeffccients
Exampes”
1) 4x + 9
2) 3xy + 5x + 1
3) 3y⁴ + 2y³ + 7y² – 9y + ⅗
4) m + 5mn – 7m²n + nm² + 9
