Japan
In Japan, gifts are an important part of our society. You should give a
gift when a coworker returns from vacation, when they get a
promotion, and on other special occasions. If the gift is wrapped,
don’t open it in front of the person who gave it to you.

USA
It is common for a coworker to get small gifts on their birthday,
if they are retiring, or for other important life events, like getting
married or having a baby. It’s important to check the policy of your
workplace. Some big companies have policies against gift giving in
the workplace.
MALAYSIA
Gifts are not common in the workplace. In some cases, gifts are
exchanged if there is a personal relationship between the people.
Gifts are sometimes considered a bribe. Never give money as a gift.
ENGLAND
It is not common for coworkers to exchange gifts. During the
Christmas season, it is more common to send holiday cards. If you
go to visit a coworker’s home or a friend’s home, it’s important to
bring a small gift, like a bottle of wine or some chocolate.
