LEARNING & MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES

Think-Pair-Share (Analyzing)
Multimedia Presentations (Understanding)
Hands-on Demos (Applying)
Questioning Techniques (Analyzing)
Collaborative Learning (Interpersonal)

PRIOR KNOWLEDGE:
Students have basic knowledge of technology and devices from previous schooling.

INSTRUCTION & MODELLING: (Differentiated Learning Activities- Consider VAK/Ability Groups)

Starter: Visual: Display images of different computers and ask students to describe what they see
(Remembering)

MODELLING Visual: Present slides defining a computer and its components (Understanding).
Auditory: Explain verbally the two main constituents of a computer: hardware and software
(Understanding).
Kinesthetic: Show physical examples of computer hardware and software and allow students to
handle them (Applying).

Activity 1: Kinesthetic: Demonstrate the differences between hardware and software using physical
examples and let students identify them (Applying).

Activity 2: Activity 2:

Visual and Auditory: Participate in a class discussion to compare and contrast hardware
and software (Analyzing).
Activity 3: Activity 3:
Kinesthetic: In groups, students identify various parts of hardware and software from a mixed
collection and present their findings to the class (Creating).

DIFFERENTIATED ASSESSMENT: (Indoor or outdoor tasks on the lesson- Consider ability groups)

Group 1: (Gifted/talented/high flyers)

Visual: Create a detailed diagram illustrating a computer system with its hardware and software components
labeled (Analyzing).
Auditory: Participate in a debate evaluating the importance of hardware versus software (Evaluating).
Kinesthetic: Design a simple program or interactive presentation that teaches others about computer components
(Creating).

Group 2 (Average Performers):

Visual: Develop a mind map showing the different parts of a computer and their functions (Understanding).
Auditory: Discuss in pairs the role of hardware and software in the operation of a computer (Analyzing).
Kinesthetic: Assemble a basic computer setup and identify each part and its function (Applying)

Group 3: (Below average)

Visual: Complete a guided worksheet matching hardware and software components with their definitions and
functions (Remembering).
Auditory: Engage in a one-on-one conversation with the teacher to reinforce understanding of key concepts
(Understanding).
Kinesthetic: Use labeled cutouts to arrange the components of a computer system correctly (Applying).

PLENARY (Questions to evaluate the success of the lesson)

Remembering: Define a computer.

Understanding: What are the two main constituents of a computer?

Analyzing: Explain the difference between hardware and software.

OVERTIME ACTIVITIES:
Engage students in a role-playing activity where they act as different components of a computer system and explain their
functions (Creating).

HOMEWORK/NEXT STEPS:
Research and write a short report on the latest advancements in computer hardware and software
(Analyzing/Evaluating).
