Activity Guide and Evaluation Rubric – Speaking Practice

1. Activity Description

Type of activity: Individual


Evaluation moment: Intermediate
Highest score of the activity: 90 points

With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
purposes:

To review general aspects about speaking: fluency, self-confidence, vocabulary and


pronunciation and the speaking skill by giving answer to a specific communicative
situation.

The activity has the following steps:

1. Read the guide and prepare the activity.


2. The student must review the video: Indirect Speech (https://youtu.be/Vwlm-
GoPzJI) that explains the general rules to do indirect speech. The student will check
the explanation to work on the script for his/her own video.
3. Watch and select one of the following short films, according to your preference.

4. The student will work on his/her script of his/her video. The video has to explain
what the CONTENT of the video is. You need to use REPORTED SPEECH to explain
what happens in ONE of the videos and report what the participants said.
5. Record a video on www.youtube.com or www.movenote.com related to the short
film of your choice, according to the options provided above. The video should
contain the SUMMARY of the short film paying special attention to REPORTING the
dialogues. Remember the message in your video must include the following:
➢ Personal presentation: name, program of study, CEAD, City, etc.
➢ Report of the content of the SHORT FILM, including the dialogues from the
video that you chose.
➢ Try to do it as you were the PRESENTER of a MOVIE TV PROGRAM, and you
want to summary the short film.
➢ The video MUST SHOW YOUR FACE. Don’t record it in Voice off.
6. You must send the LINK of your video recording in WORD or PDF format to the
corresponding space.

Regarding the use of references, consider that the product of this activity must comply
with APA style.
In any case, make sure you comply with the rules and avoid academic plagiarism. You
can review your written products using the Turnitin tool found in the virtual campus.
