Scope of Work
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this project is to construct sidewalks and bus shelter pads.
DESCRIPTION:
The following services or activities are included in the scope of work for this project:
1. Contractor shall construct new shelter pads at the following locations.
a. Belt Line Rd. @ Kelly Blvd. (W-FS) Stop ID 20127 (Figures 1 & 2)
b. Keller Springs Rd. @ Overture Way (W-FS) Stop ID 31505 (Figures 3 & 4)
c. Josey Ln. @ Hebron Pkwy (N-MB1) Stop ID 30647 (Figures 5 & 6)
d. Zang Blvd. @ Illinois Ave. (S-MB) new overlay stop (Figures 7, 8 & 9)
e. Zang Blvd. @ Illinois Ave. (N-FS) Stop ID 17081 (Figures 10, 11 & 12)
2. The contractor shall construct the shelter pads being consistent to the construction documents
enclosed.
3. DART will set up a temporary bus stop at each location away from the construction area.
4. Contractor shall complete the removal and placement of concrete so that the vehicle traffic can
be maintained. All materials and equipment must be kept within the designated and barricaded
areas.
5. Contractor shall provide certified test results, prepared by a duly licensed and accredited testing
firm. The testing firm must be approved by DART prior to any testing being performed. The
Contractor shall notify DARTs Project Manager at least 24 hours in advance of any testing to be
performed, to allow them to observe the testing.
6. The areas of pavement and curb to be removed shall be saw-cut to the full depth of existing
concrete along the entire perimeter to provide a smooth and clean joint. Removals must be
accomplished without damaging adjacent amenities.
7. All required components are subsidiary to the concrete being constructed and no separate
payment will be made.
8. New concrete shall match the existing elevations at connection points or match the elevations as
directed by DART and shall be finished as required to facilitate drainage and to conform to
the original contour of the concrete surrounding the area being replaced. The surface finish of the
new concrete shall match the surface finish of the concrete surrounding it.
9. Expansion joint material specified at concrete-to-concrete joints shall be pre-molded asphalt
board and shall be securely anchored to overcome the tendency of the material to fall down prior
to concrete placement. If the existing expansion joint is redwood, match existing size with
redwood. The expansion material shall cover the entire depth of the concrete-to-concrete
connection. Transverse and longitudinal joints shall be sawed or tooled to match existing joint
patterns. All joints shall be sealed. All joints required are subsidiary to the concrete being
constructed and no separate payment will be made.
10. Sealant shall be a hot – applied, polymeric type meeting ASTM D 1190 and ASTM D 6690 Type
I specifications. Acceptable sealants are W. R. Meadows # 164 or approved equal. All required
sealing is subsidiary to the concrete being constructed and no separate payment will be made.
11. The new concrete shall be protected from the elements and vandalism.
12. Any construction material allowed by DART to be staged on project site shall be staged in an
area designated by the facility manager.
13. No combustible material shall be stored on site.
14. Prior to starting work, the Contractor shall attend a pre-construction meeting and provide an
approved work schedule for completing the work per this task. The work schedule must be
regularly updated and delivered to DART’s Project Manager and should accurately reflect the
project status. The schedule will be used to assist with scheduling work and coordinating daily
access within the facility.
15. Contractor shall perform all work in accordance with DART Standard Facilities Specifications.
The Standard Facilities Specifications is available on DART’s web site. Contractor shall perform
all work in accordance with Contract Documents, current industry standards, and in accordance
with applicable governmental codes, inspections and requirements. Contractor shall review all
specifications and drawings to assure all submittals required by the specifications are submitted
in advance to allow approval and purchase of the items prior to their scheduled installation.
16. Contractor shall obtain any and all of the necessary permits, licenses, bonds, and registrations
required by DART and/or the Cities where shelter pads are being constructed prior to the starting
of any work.
17. Contractor will be allowed to start work according to city codes. Coordination for evening and
weekend work, and utility shutdowns are to be scheduled with DART’s Project Manager a
minimum of twenty-four hours in advance of requested date. DART personnel will not accept or
sign for any delivered contractor materials.
18. Contractor shall coordinate with DART personnel for access to and within the project sites. All
coordination between DART staff and the contractor’s staff shall be completed through DART’s
designated representative (Project Manager).
19. Construction area will be marked and barricaded to allow for minimal disruption to patrons and
contractors. Work area will be cleared of material and equipment daily. Materials and equipment
will be secured during break and lunch times. Safe access to and around the work site for the
contractors and DART personnel must be assured at all times.
20. All company vehicles on site shall be identified in accordance with DART requirements. The
contractor is responsible for security of their vehicles and material stored during work activity.
21. At all times during the performance of this contract and until the work is completed and accepted,
the Contractor shall directly superintend the work or assign and have on the work site a competent
superintendent who has the authority to act for the contractor and is approved by the DART’s
designated representative (Project Manager).
22. Precautions must be taken to minimize dust debris within the working area during construction
activity. All common areas must be cleaned daily. No material shall be stockpiled outside of the
Construction area nor disposed in existing dumpsters on site. Any debris build-up or damages to
the surrounding area which are the result of Contractor work or its personnel will be required to
be corrected immediately by the Contractor upon notification by DART. All costs associated with
this clean up or repair shall be at the sole expense of the Contractor.
23. In addition to this Scope of Work are Drawings and Specifications that will detail the work to be
performed. These documents are supplementary to the Contract Documents and all shall be
utilized for a complete project. When conflicts exist between the various documents, the most
stringent requirement shall take precedence.
24. The General Requirement line item in the cost proposal includes permitting if required, approved
submittals, and approved project close-out documents.
25. The Mobilization line item in the cost proposal includes the approved work schedule, vehicle and
people traffic control devices, and equipment delivered to work site ready to begin work.
26. Any work not identified in this scope or statement of work shall be brought to the authority’s
attention prior to bid submittals.
1. The Contractor shall prepare a cost proposal in accordance with contract bid documents and
shall include the project specific items listed in the Cost Schedule.
2. Prices shall include all labor, materials, equipment incidentals required to complete the work
in a safe, timely and professional manner.
3. All bids must be submitted on the Cost Schedule-Bid Schedule provided and the unit prices
filled in for each item.

B. APPROVAL OF SUBSTITUTES
Completion Schedule – All work shall be completed and accepted within forty-five (45) calendar days
from date of the Notice to Proceed.
