A Semi Detailed Lesson Plan for Kindergarten

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:
a. Understand and recognize the parts of the book
b. Identify the beginning, middle, and end of a story.
c. Identify and practice the moral lessons from story

II. Subject Matter:


a. Topic: Parts of the Book
b. Materials: Markers, Big Book, Whiteboard, Stickers/stamps
c. References: Online resources for teaching book parts and moral
lessons for young children specify the link
d. Values: Appreciation for books and stories, listening attentively,
Identifying and discussing feelings, Sharing ideas

III. Procedure:

A. Preparatory Activities:

- Greet students and gather them in a circle on the floor.

B. Review

- Briefly review previous lessons about favorite characters or stories.

- Ask students to name a few of their favorite book characters.

C. Motivation

- Show a colorful picture book and ask students if they like to read stories.

- Introduce the concept of a book cover and title page using large picture
cards (use the big book) include the parts of the book and a simple
definition.
- Show students the cover of a book and point out the title and author’s
name.

- Read a short story aloud and point out the beginning, middle, and end.

- Ask students to identify the beginning, middle, and end of their own books.

- Discuss the moral lesson with students and ask them to explain what they
learned.
