2 About Document Pipelines

This section provides an overview of Document Pipelines 21.2.

Document Pipelines are basic components in document-processing software and are used to ingest
metadata and content into an application while performing certain additional tasks. Document
Pipelines are the framework for application-specific pipelines.

An important principle for all Document Pipelines is that processing is always transactional. That
means that the processing status of the document is always defined – either it has been processed by
a specific DocTool or not – and no documents can get lost.

This document covers the following pipelines and components:

• Document Pipeline Base

• Document Pipeline Info
• Document Pipeline Perl
• Document Pipeline Remote Interface
• Document Pipeline for SAP
• Document Pipeline for Doculink
• Document Pipeline File Archiving
• Document Pipeline CMIS

This section provides additional installation and upgrade information, including related or third-party

5.1.1 Silent installation

Silent Installation for Document Pipelines is supported on Microsoft Windows platforms only.

Document Pipelines can be installed silently, using the msiexec program. For a description of the
silent installation, see: https://knowledge.opentext.com/go/15806655.

Note: Silent installation is not supported for Document Pipeline for Content Server because the
configuration information cannot be provided during silent installation.

5.1.2 Installation of Document Pipeline Base

Installation of Document Pipeline Base will install DocTools which are used by several application
