2 About Document Pipelines

This section provides an overview of Document Pipelines 20.2.

Document Pipelines are basic components in document-processing software and are used to ingest
metadata and content into an application while performing certain additional tasks. Document
Pipelines are the framework for application-specific pipelines.

An important principle for all Document Pipelines is that processing is always transactional. That
means that the processing status of the document is always defined – either it has been processed by
a specific DocTool or not – and no documents can get lost.

This document covers the following pipelines and components:

• Document Pipeline Base

• Document Pipeline Info
• Document Pipeline Perl
• Document Pipeline Remote Interface
• Document Pipeline for SAP
• Document Pipeline for Doculink
• Document Pipeline File Archiving
• Document Pipeline CMIS
