Are Filipinos Still Worth Dying For?

My fellow Filipinos, we stand here today at a crossroads.


A crossroads marked by the echoes of a question that has haunted our nation for
generations:
Are Filipinos still worth dying for?
This question, once a rallying cry for freedom and unity, now stirs a complex
mix of emotions. It forces us to confront the realities of our present, to examine
the sacrifices made by our ancestors, and to ponder the future we are building for
ourselves and our children.
The answer, my friends, is a resounding YES.
We are a nation forged in the crucible of hardship; our history etched with the
blood of those who fought for our freedom. From the valiant Lapu-Lapu who
resisted Spanish colonization, to the countless heroes who fought for
independence, to the brave souls who stood against tyranny during the Marcos
regime, Filipinos have always been willing to sacrifice everything for their
beliefs. This spirit of selflessness, this unwavering dedication to our nation, is not
a relic of the past. It lives on in the hearts of every Filipino who strives for a
better tomorrow. It is evident in the tireless work of our healthcare workers
battling the pandemic, in the unwavering commitment of our teachers educating
the next generation, in the unwavering spirit of our farmers feeding our nation.
But why? Why are Filipinos still worth dying for?
Because we are a nation of resilience, a nation of compassion, a nation of hope.
We have weathered countless storms, overcome unimaginable challenges, and
emerged stronger each time. We are a people who find joy in the simplest things,
who find strength in our community, and who find solace in our shared heritage.
We are a nation of artists, musicians, and storytellers, whose creativity knows no
bounds. We are a nation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and dreamers, who are
constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible. We are a nation of faith, of
love, and of unwavering belief in the human spirit.
Yes, Filipinos are still worth dying for.
Not for a flag, not for a government, but for the very essence of what it means to
be Filipino. For the love of our families, for the hope of a brighter future, for the
unwavering belief in our collective strength.
Let us not forget the sacrifices made by those who came before us. Let us honor
their legacy by continuing to fight for a better Philippines,
a Philippines where every Filipino can live a life filled with dignity, opportunity,
and hope. Let us be the generation that finally answers the call of our ancestors,
the generation that builds a nation worthy of their sacrifice.
Let us prove, once again, that Filipinos are still worth dying for.
