Writing Module Practice 2
Task 1
The pie graphs below show the result of a survey of children's activities. The first
graph shows the cultural and leisure activities that boys participate in, whereas
the second graph shows the activities in which the girls participate.
Write a report describing the information shown in the two pie graphs.
Answer:
The pie graphs above illustrate the outcomes of the study which was conducted on the
children’s interests. The above two graphs is the comparison between aesthetic and
pleasant activities in which male and female take part.
The graph indicates that boys are highly interested in computer games I-e 34%,
Whereas girls are more involved in dancing activity I.e 27%. Therefore, the boys are
least engaged in reading habit I.e 2%, When we talk about girls, they are less focused
on listening to music I.e 10%.
The above pie charts also demonstrated that 26%, 17%, 11% and 10% boys are
concerned about basketball, soccer, skateboarding and listening to music respectively.
On the other hand, 21% females like to spend their time in reading and 16% prefer to
play computer games in their leisure time. In addition, netball is played by 15% girls
whereas 11% drain their energy in gymnastics.
Hence, the outcome of the study reveals that interest of young generation either they
belong to male or female gender is same for music, however boys are more involved
in games either they are online or physical, Alternatively girls participates more in
dancing and reading activities.
Task 2
Some people believe that violence on television and in computer games has a
damaging effect on the society. Others deny that these factors have any
significant influence on people's behaviour. What is your opinion?
Answer:
I considered that destruction displayed in TV shows, dramas and movies has a major
impact on the individual’s thinking process. Whereas the games which involve
violence and rule breaking are significantly altering the community’s mentality and
pattern. This essay totally agrees with the statement.
Our way of perception is highly influenced by the content which we are watching on
television or in any movie or series. Basically the highly inspired age is adolescents,
they are not mature enough to think that this is a script not a reality therefore just
made for trapping the people for earning money. This altered way of perception
dominated the young generation’s emotional and psychological health and ultimately
significant effect is visible in their characteristics. This was experimented in
psychology which is famous with the name of Bobo doll experiment. In this,
researchers physically and verbally abused a doll in front of the preschool children.
Then later on it was observed that children mock the behavior of adults by attacking
the doll in the same manner.
The computer games are devastatingly enslaving the society specifically youth.
Games such as GTA, Pubg or free fire etc involves assaulting and criminal behaviors.
Psychology says humans are born with a blank slate I-e brain, nature vs nurture is
long debate but in conclusion researchers find out that nature plays 30% role and
nurture plays 70% role in the person’s traits. Hence, the individual who is spending
his most of time in playing such type of tournaments will definitely be influence by
all these activities.Therefore, these people are damaging the overall society.
In conclusion, the media’s subject matters has drastic impression on the people’s
cognitive abilities, behaviors and traits. In this era of online system, our youngsters
are isolating them. In addition, they are heavily fascinated by gaming and online
violating and cyber crimes which is prominently smashing the community.
