QUESTION 1

a) Identify the type of sampling technique used in each of the following situation.

i. There are five IT companies in a state. A researcher selects at random three out of
five companies and interviews all the staff of these companies.

ii. Computers are divided into its brand. Sample of computers are selected randomly
from each brand to use as a sample for inspection.

iii. One CPU is randomly selected from the first 7 units, then every 7th CPU starting with

b) An international telecommunication company has branches at 100 countries with about


15,000 employees all over the world. The employees monthly salary is normally
distributed with the mean of RM7.000 and the standard deviation, RM2.300. Those
employees with salary more than RM10,000 will be categorized as a high income
workers.

i. Find the percentage that an employee selected at random is from the high income
workers.
