Answer :

2. The first factor is the calling in life as a teacher. From the bottom of my heart, I want
to become a teacher, especially an English teacher. A love of English and
communicating with others is also a significant motivator for becoming an English
teacher. I think enjoying reading, writing, and listening can make teaching English a
fulfilling career choice. Additionally, Teaching offers the opportunity to make a
meaningful difference in the lives of others. This means that when I become a teacher,
I have the opportunity to shape the minds and futures of my students, helping them
develop the skills, knowledge and confidence that will benefit them throughout their
lives. Then, as teachers we are able to balance life and work. Although teaching is
demanding, it also offers relatively stable work hours and vacation time compared to
some other professions. This is very appealing to me who values work-life balance
and wants time to pursue personal interests and spend time with family.
In my opinion, teaching is a noble profession that requires dedication, patience and a
sincere passion to help others succeed. Teachers not only impart knowledge but also
instill important values, critical thinking skills, and a lifelong love of learning in their
students.

1. Currently, English is starting to be taught formally in Indonesian schools as a

compulsory subject from elementary level, usually starting at the age of 6 or 7
years. The position of English in the curriculum varies depending on the school
and education system followed. In general, this subject is considered a core
subject along with other main subjects such as Mathematics, Science and
Indonesian, but there are also English subjects as additional subjects. For the
elementary school level, English teaching materials often include basic
vocabulary, grammatical structures, and simple dialogues aimed at building basic
language skills.
Several problems related to the start of teaching English in Indonesia:
1) Many elementary school teachers in Indonesia do not have sufficient English
language skills. This can lead to ineffective teaching and a lack of appropriate
language modeling for students.
2) Introducing English at an early age along with other subjects can cause a heavy
curriculum load for young students. This may result in cognitive overload and
hinder the development of other important skills.
3) Access to quality English education can vary greatly depending on
socioeconomic factors. Students who come from wealthy families or urban
areas may have better access to resources and opportunities to learn English
compared to students who come from rural or economically disadvantaged
backgrounds.
4) Many schools, especially in rural areas, may lack adequate resources such as
textbooks, audiovisual materials, and trained English teachers, which may
hinder the effectiveness of English language teaching.

3 . Diverse student backgrounds can be a challenge in the teaching culture because

each student has different needs, preferences and learning styles. This challenge can
arise because students with diverse backgrounds may have different levels of
understanding and experience in the topics taught. This can make it difficult for a
teacher to create teaching strategies that work for all students. Then, Students from
different cultural backgrounds may have different mother tongues or different
understandings of the language of instruction. This can make communication and
understanding difficult in the classroom. Additionally, students from different socio-
economic backgrounds may face different economic challenges, access to educational
resources, and family support. This may influence their engagement in learning.

The solutions to overcome this challenge include:

1) Introduction to diversity. So, teachers must understand and respect the diversity
of their students, including cultural backgrounds, languages, and experiences.
This can be realized through the use of teaching materials that reflect this
diversity.
2) Differentiation of teaching. Teachers can apply different learning strategies to
meet students' individual needs. This can take the form of presenting material in
various ways, the use of visual aids, or the use of working groups.
3) Effective communication: Teacher must maintain open channels of
communication with students and their families. This allows teachers to better
understand students' needs and provide appropriate support.
4 . The Emancipates curriculum which involves various strategies in learning English
certainly has the aim of meeting the need for using English as a lingua franca. Some
strategies that may have been implemented in the Emancipates Curriculum to meet
the need for using English as a lingua franca include:
1) Use of communicative methods, namely focusing on developing speaking and
listening skills, as well as emphasizing real communicative situations.
2) Use of technology in learning such as online learning platforms, applications and
multimedia to increase students' accessibility and activeness in learning English.
3) Cross-cultural learning to understand cultural differences in the context of
English communication to improve students' abilities in communicating with
native and non-native speakers.
4) Improved critical and creative thinking skills, namely developing students' ability
to think flexibly and effectively in using English in various communication
contexts.
In my opinion, this strategy fulfills the need for using English as a lingua franca.
However, continuous evaluation of the effectiveness of learning needs to be carried
out. Apart from that, it is also necessary to periodically adjust and develop strategies
in accordance with the development of needs and dynamics of the use of English as a
lingua franca in today's global society.
