GUIDELINES AND GROUND RULES


BADMINTON EVENT

1. PARTICIPATING TEAMS
1.1. The badminton tournament shall be participated in by the districts of, Dagohoy, Danao, San Miguel And
Trinidad
1.2. Each District is entitled to one (1) team.

2. ENTRIES AND ELIGIBILITY OF PLAYERS


2.1 Athletes eligibility is determined by the screening committees.
2.2 Individual Competition Boys and Girls
 Boys Singles (BS) (Two (2)entries/ team)
 Girls Singles (GS) (Two (2)entries/ team)
 Boys Doubles (BD) (One (1) entry / team)
 Girls Doubles (GD) (One (1) entry / team)

3. TEAM COMPOSITION AND FIELDING OF PLAYERS


3.1 A Team must have been recognized and cleared by the screening committee.
3.2. No CHANGING of ENTRIES shall be allowed under any circumstances after the entry has been finalized.

4. DRAWING OF LOTS
4.1 Drawing of lots to determine the opponent shall be done during the Solidarity meeting.
4.2 Coaches or representatives shall be the one to make the draw to determine their opponent.
4.3 Failure to attend the said meeting, the coach / representative has waived his/her rights to question
the tournament proceedings/ technical guidelines.

5. ENTRY OF PLAYERS (Individual Competition)


5.1 Coaches shall submit their entries for Singles and Doubles competition together with their clearance
before the start of the competition on a prescribed entry form to be provided by the management.
5.2 Players are only allowed to play in one (1) event (Players in Singles are not allowed to play in Doubles)
5.3 The entries shall be duly signed by the coach or team manager.
5.4 Upon submission of the entries duly signed by the coach/ team manager, no changing of entries shall be
Allowed.

6. TOURNAMENT FORMAT
6.1 The format of the competition shall be run on either single elimination.
This shall be agreed by the committee and coaches during the solidarity meeting.

7. RULES
7.1 The competition shall be held in accordance with the current Laws and Regulations of the Badminton
World Federation (BWF). However, in matters not covered by these rules and regulations, decisions
shall rest with the Tournament Director.
7.2 The Technical Committee/ Tournament Director shall be responsible for the technical organization
of the tournament. The decision of the Committee in all matters regarding the competition shall be
final.
7.3 Only coaches are allowed to approach the Match Control/ Referee with regards to questions and
inquiries during the match.

8. SCORING
8.1 The BWF scoring system of 1-21 points (rally point) best of three games shall apply. In case the score
becomes 20- all, the player or pair who gains an advantage of two (2) points wins the game (22-23-
24). If the score becomes 29- all, the player or pair who scores the 30th point wins the game.
9. WALK OVER
9.1 A 5-minute grace period on the scheduled match shall be given, otherwise the player/s shall be
declared loser via walk- over.

10. ATTIRE
10.1 All players are required to use their appropriate playing attire.

11. PROTEST
11.1 Protest on eligibility will be settled at the level of the Organizing and Screening Committee.
11.2 Protest on technicality will be settled at the level of the Tournament Referee/ Tournament
Manager.

12. RESTRICTIONS FOR COURT OFFICIALS AND COACHES


12.1 Court officials will not be allowed to officiate in a match if he/she is under the influence of liquor
(alcoholic beverages)
12.2 Smoking is strictly prohibited within the playing area – let us make badminton a smoke – free
competition.

13. UNFORSEEN EVENT


The decision of the Referee on any disputes during the competition shall be final.

14. NO CLEARANCE NO PLAY
