Counseling Opportunities at Catholic Charities


Catholic Charities has the following counseling services:

Offices in Chanhassen, St. Paul, Burnsville, Blaine, Red Wing, Faribault and Monticello for individual, family or couple counseling. Spanish-speaking counseling available in designated areas. Accepts most health insurance providers for counseling services. If a person doesnt have insurance, reduced and sliding fee options are available. Services for those that are separated and divorced including: information & referral, support group facilitator training, Prepare/Enrich inventory, Second Marriage Seminar, newsletter and divorce education. Adoption & post-adoption services including specialized counseling to individuals & families.

Separated and Divorced

Divorce is a major life transition and one we usually didnt expect to face. It is normal and healthy to feel angry, sad and hurt but we dont always have great skills at managing those feelings. January 23 What About the Kids?


Whether the kids are babies or adults, a parents divorce can be very difficult for our children. Divorce means different things at different stages. Come talk about supporting your kids through this and how to use tough times to build better relationships.

January 30 Separation/Divorce and Shattered Dreams.


Separation and divorce interrupt individual and family stories. Expectation and dreams are changed. In addition to all other decisions, it can be crucial to face shattered dreams in order to move forward, whatever the circumstances.

Parish Information
Mass Intentions Mass intentions may be for the living and the departed, with a designating in the bulletin a deceased person. There is a $10 suggested donation per Mass intention. Permission from the sick person or his/ her family must be granted before a names inclusion in these prayers. To schedule a Mass intention, call Jean in the parish office. Baptism Sacramental preparation is required for all parents. Godparents and Grandparents are also encouraged to attend. Baptismal prep sessions are given every other month and Baptism Masses are held once a month. Call Jean in the parish office to schedule a child for Baptism and the parents for baptismal prep. Prayers of the Faithful .If you would like a name included in our Prayers of the Faithful for the sick, please call the Parish Office. Penance...Saturdays from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and anytime by appointment. Matrimony...Pre-registration required at least one year in advance; marriage preparation course is required. Communion for the Homebound...When we come together to pray at our Eucharistic liturgy, we do not forget the members of our community who are unable to be with us because of ill health. We remember them in our prayer, and we wish to include them in our Holy Communion. Members of our community bring the Blessed Sacrament to them to comfort them and to unite them with us in the Eucharist. We are not always aware of those who have this need. Please call the Parish Office to let us know if you or a member of your family would like to have Holy Communion brought to them. That way we can schedule a time for our ministers to visit and bring the Sacrament. Hospital, Nursing Home, Homebound Visits...Churches are no longer notified by hospitals or nursing homes when a parishioner is admitted unless the family has requested it. If you or a family member are homebound, hospitalized or in a nursing home and would like a visit from a member of the pastoral ministry staff, please call Jean Rief in the parish office.

Do you shop at Cooper's Market in downtown Chaska? You can help Guardian Angels School earn credit for free school equipment by turning in your Cooper's register receipts to the Parish or School office.

Your receipts earn GA School credits and in March 2012, we will be able to place an order for some items we can use in the school.

Bob Ohnsorg and Dennis Meyer of the Knights of Columbus present a check for $417 to Principal Amy Gallas as a donation to GA school for the students' participation at their last pancake breakfast. Thank you!

Dennis Meyer & Bob Ohnsorg of the Knights of Columbus present two checks totaling $1,824 from the profits of their pancake breakfasts, to Fr. Doug and Gary VanEyll. The donations are to help pay for the new boiler and the repair of stove's pilot lights in the school kitchen.

This weekend is the 3rd Sunday Second Collection for the GA Parish.

The money collected will be used to replenish the Tuition Assistance Fund for students at GA School. Our school wants to be able to provide a Catholic education to all families who desire one for their children. Over the last several years, we have been able to lessen the financial burden for several qualifying students each year. We know the need for next year is going to continue to be there, and any generosity towards this collection is appreciated. Thank You!

Bumping Into God Outside of Church


The Active Older Adults (AOAs) for Christ is hosting a special event for all adults on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Chaska Community Center Theater. Father Tim Powers will be speaking on Bumping into God Outside of Church. Powers is a well known presenter and his message will be an enlightening and enjoyable journey that will touch on everyones spiritual side. Prior to this speaking event the AOAs for Christ will host a coffee, punch and cookie social at the CCC Lodge starting at 6 p.m. This AOA for Christ event is free of charge with donations being accepted to the local Bountiful Basket Food Shelf of Eastern Carver County.
