Name:Belaras, Charzen lei M. Section: 1BSA-2 Group No.

1. In a class experiment, Miguel rolls one ordinary 6-sided die repeatedly. Keeping track of
each number he rolls, he decides to stop as soon as one number is rolled three times.
Miguel stops after the 12th roll, and the sum of these rolls is 47. Which number occurred for
the third time? (An ordinary 6-sided die has the numbers from 1 through 6 on its sides)

Solution:

In the problem miguel decided to stop when a number in the dice was rolled three times
In previous 11 rolls with that being said there is a chance that there’s 5 numbers that is
rolled twice and one that is only once.

If so the number that is rolled in the dice once before it is to be 47in those 11 rolls is 1 and
those number who is rolled twice is 2,3,4,5,6 because 2+3+4+5+6=20x2=40+1=41 and the
last roll that finish it because it rolled thrice is 2 because if you multiply it by 3 is equal to 6
then add the previous roll results that is 41 to the number that is rolled three times which is
6 then the total roll would be 47.

2. How many squares of all sizes are there on a standard 8-square by 8-square
checkerboard?

It is 204 squares. This is because you have to figure out how many 1 x 1 squares, 2 x 2
squares, 3 x 3 squares, etc., there are on the chessboard.1 × 1 has 1 square, 2 × 2 has 4
squares, 3 × 3 has 9 squares, 4 × 4 = 16 squares, 5 × 5 has 25 squares, 6 × 6 has 36
squares, then 7 × 7 has 49 squares, and lastly 8 × 8 who has 64 squares
There are 204 square numbers when these numbers are added up: 64, 49, 36, 25, 16, 9, 4,
1 These numbers are added up and equal 204.

3. How many toothpicks will be needed to make a 7 × 7 square?

To make a 7 × 7 square using toothpicks:

The total outside is7 toothpicks per side and there is 4 side so 7 multiply it by 4 is equal
to 28 toothpicks, Then the total number of the inner toothpicks being the horizontal
toothpicks being 7 multiply it by 6 inside inner toothpicks is equal to 42 and the vertical
toothpicks that is also 7 multiplied by 6 and is equal to 42. Adding every sum of the
toothpicks and the answer shall be 28+42+42=112
