How to replace component (engine)


NOTE!

This Service Tip is to be considered as technical information only and is solely applicable for normal warranty in case of
breakdown. Proactive replacement parts are not considered to be normal warranty.
A Service Tip gives a possible solution to a minor issue or other useful information. The information can be changed
without notice.
Background
When you want to replace an Engine in a machine it’s important that you use Tech Tool and run the operation 17095-3 “Handle
Component”, this to avoid issues with software and downtime for the machine.
Action
At the Office ( For CEA2+ )

1. Start Tech Tool and connect to central systems.


2. Write in model and serial number in manual selection for the concerned chassis.
3. On the programming tab and in “Service and maintenance” start the operation 17095-3-Handle Component.
4. Under “Select component”, select the Engine.
5. Enter the new engine serial number and click update.

Order software for Off-line programming on CEA2+ machines

1. Start Tech Tool and connect to central systems if not already done.
2. Go to Tech Tool menu and select “Administrate software new”.
3. Write in the chassis ID and click search.
4. On the tab “Software” check mark the Engine Control Module (EMS).
5. Select the order alternative “Update control unit with new software” and click “Send Order”.
6. When there is newer software available the download of the software will start immediately. When there is no newer
software a message will be shown with the information that there is no newer software available. When there is no
newer software select to download the same software as already in the machine.
7. Go to the “Stored software” tab to verify that the software is downloaded.
8. Close the tab “Administrate Software New” and close Tech Tool before traveling to the machine.

Programming software Off-line at the machine after that the engine is replaced

1. Start Tech Tool.


2. Connect to the machine with the USB interface.
3. When Tech Tool is finished with the identification select the tab “Programming”.
4. Select the operation 17093-3-Program with Stored Software and follow the instructions.

Note
Next time Tech Tool connects to central systems the programming will be reported automatically.
At the Office ( For TEA2)

1. Start Tech Tool and connect to central systems.


2. Write in model and serial number in manual selection for the concerned chassis.
3. On the programming tab and in “Service and maintenance” start the operation 17095-3-Handle Component.
4. Under “Select component”, select the Engine.
5. Enter the new engine serial number and click update.
6. Send the Chassis ID and the new engine's serial number to the Software Helpdesk in a CHAIN Support Tool case.
7. Wait for confirmation from Software Helpdesk before the software is ordered.

Order software Off-line for TEA2 machines after confirmation from Software Helpdesk

1. Start Tech Tool and connect to central systems if not already done.
2. Go to Tech Tool menu and select “Administrate software”.
3. Select Company and Machine Type.
4. Write in the chassis ID.
5. Select MID 128.
6. Select the Action Replace control unit.
7. Click Add and then click Send order.
8. Go to “Available software” tab to verify that the software is down loaded.
9. Close the tab “Administrate Software” and close Tech Tool before traveling to the machine.

On-line at the machine after that the engine is replaced

1. Start Tech Tool.


2. Connect to the machine with the USB interface.
3. When Tech Tool is finished with the identification select the tab “Programming”.
4. Under “Engine, Engine mounting and equipment”; select the operation 28423-3 MID 128 Control unit, programming
and follow the on screen information.

After the system is updated, send in a CHAIN Support Tool case and ask us to check whether you have got the correct
software.
