CRS - Computerized reservation system

- it is a computerized system that stores and distributes information of a


hotel, resort, or other lodging facilities

Printer controller - Coordinates communications between cashier or pre-check


terminals and workstation printers on remote monitors.

GDS - Global distribution system


- IT is an e-commerce tool introduced by airlines to facilitate the booking of
flights

IBE - Internet booking engine


- IT allows guests to remotely make reservations accessing the hotel’s website

PMS - It is a comprehensive software package that manages all aspects of hotel


operations, which has front desk, and back office modules that handle
reservations, guest profile/folio, reporting, night auditing, and housekeeping,
accounting, payroll and asset and inventory management.

Network Controllers - It process data from one of the terminals immediately and
temporarily stores other communications until the remote device is available.

POS - Point of Sale


- It refers to the physical electronic cash register or terminal used
- The location where a transaction occurs in exchange for goods or services.

Airline reservation systems- It provide modern, flexible reservation and inventory


management solution for airline including call centre, travel agency and
internet ticket sales and booking.

Ticketing system - It is a travel software (travel agency software), which are


widely used by global travel management companies.

- It process the transactions related to flights, accommodations,


transfers, cars, cruise and other travel related services.

Travel portal software - Services for B2C and B2B models and travel portal API
integration for online hotel booking system, car bookings, flight booking system,
holiday booking system, etc

Airline reservation systems - It provide a stable platform to airlines of all the


size with industry standard interfaces to all external reservation system including
GDS systems , other airlines CRS systems.

Client’s travel portal - It has a tools such as weather widget, Google maps and
various information sources providing the latest travel news, trip advice and
travel guides which will help travelers in planning their trip accurately

Contract compliance - It is a conformity to volume purchasing contracts negotiated


by hotel chains, franchise organizations, associations, consortia, or
representation firms

E-marketplace model - It is a virtual shopping mall—“many buyers, many sellers”


environment

Minimum inventory levels - Safety level—minimum quantity below which inventory


items should not fall.
Maximum inventory levels - The highest quantity above which inventory items should
not rise.

Usage rates - The number of purchase units used per order period

Lead-time quantity - The anticipated number of purchase units taken from inventory
between the time an order is placed and the time it is delivered

Order point - The number of purchase units in stock when an order is placed

Buy-side model - Using Web-based services to purchase from approved vendors—“one

Sell-side model - The placing an order directly with a supplier over the Internet

departments in a hotel in order to manage the property effectively.

Business tools - It is any asset that helps or assists the organization to achieve
its stated aims or objectives.

Guest History - A PMS module that saves personal history on each guest is compiled,
maintained and updated automatically.

Abacre - It is a complete solution, beginning with reservations and check in/check


out, and ending with billing and tax reports.

Police Checks - Individuals may apply or authorize others to perform a police


checks which will disclose any charges that have been made against a person.

Audits - is the assessment of the processes that are in place on how the business
tools are monitored, controlled and used.

Privacy - It determine the nature of the information that an employee can publish
about the business and the guests of the business.
